Or how about flying with fire bending, using it as a jet pack? Unfair!?
Benders are just allow to bend the rules as well as the elements You can't pin point exactly what bending lets you do or not.
As we all know from years of cartoons, you can propel yourself with fire. Makes perfect sense.

Knew it works on the same principle as painting flames on the side of my bike made it go faster!
Anyways it's all just a matter of what the writers are willing to allow. It's not like there is some guide to the avatar universe dealing particularly with how bending works. It just does. sit back and enjoy

Few points I don't like: - The main character is pretty immature and hot-headed. Do not like. Aang was much more approachable because you could tell he wanted to help out people more than his self-improvement. Korra doesn't seem this way.
-The futuristic setting. If people are on motorcycles and throwing grenades, it makes using elemental power much less threatening. Normal people can do half the special abilities crap with aid of technology. I really enjoyed the sense of nomad/past life in the original setting.
-The show lacks a strong goal. The original show had a very intimidating villian and a strong cause for a goal. They wanted to stop the fire nation from conquering everything, they had to somehow make Aang a capable avatar and they had to go through trouble to get him to that point. It was also mysterious for him to somehow take on the role of avatar, see how he would accomplish his goal and such.
For Korra, it seems like everything is already laid out for her, she already has a teacher for the last element she needs to learn, and there really isn't much point of the show except stop that mask dude from creating a rebellion.
Keep watching, it gets better... it's just the first 4 episodes, they have to get into things first.

Seriously dude, it's the first 4 episodes. If you compare them to the first 4 episodes of TLA it's the same quality. Keep watching it gets better.

Doing what you just did is like reading the first chapter out of any book and then judging the entirety of the thing. Wanna complain? At least watch up to the most current episode.

This is possible. As the fire heats the air, the air expands. (middle school science) If a bender can generate enough heat, he can most certainly propel himself either forwards, or up.

Well. Its really more like reading the first four chapters out of twelve.
I agree that it does get better, though. But I thought it was awesome from the get-go. Also, if he didn't like the first four, he'll probably hate the fifth as it seems to have been the least popular episode so far (that was the relationship one, right?).
A thought by me; Korra will lose her bending because when you think about Korra's avatar training, it involves spiritual training as well as mastering the four elements. When Korra loses her bending her only option will be to connect to the spirit world and talk with her past lives (or something like that) to re-discover her bending powers. From there she learns the origins of bending, the origins of the avatar, and about chakra points. She unlocks her chakra points, get her bending back and activates avatar state and revenge kills Amon. This would also confirm that Amon was not the second avatar since he only blocked chakra points to prevent bending and not take away bending entirely. And then Amon disappears forever and we never learn who he/she/it was.
The Main point I was getting at was that Korra losing her bending will cause her to become more spiritual.
I don't think she'll lose here bending. I think if Amon can really take away bending and if he tries it on Korra it won't work. Remember when Aang took away Firelord Ozai's firebending and they had that whole Blue/Red thing that went through their whole bodies? Ya I think thats whats going to happen and it will consume Amon.

Even if we don't find out who he is we will most likely be more informed about his past or his origin, or hopefully how he gained this power......hopefully.....
SO Hyped for the Finale...the only complaint I have is the way they handled the Love Triangle...The guy jumps from one girl to another way too fast...and Asami is so much hotter than Korra <3

Sound Chakra: Located in the throat: Deals with truth and is blocked by lies, the ones we tell ourselves.
Light Chakra: Located in the center of the forehead: Deals with insight and is blocked by illusions.
Amon targets these chakras when he "takes away" peoples bending.
What Amon does probably isn't permanent, and from what it seems, the only way to overcome it is to meditate. "Deals with insight," and "blocked by lies, the ones we tell ourselves." Chances are Korra will lose her bending and she'll be more spiritual, regaining her abilities.
also yes i can see that ore0z! they surely wouldn't spoil the last episode or the end of the last episode with the trailer right? (talking about amon taking her powers away)
That scene is probably actually in the first episode, maybe the cliffhanger of it or something.
