I really just can't get over how amazing this show looks. It still has that Avatar feel while being ridiculously detailed. Every episode blows me away.
+ Show Spoiler + Not a lot revolving around Korra this episode but overall was still kick-ass. I love watching Tenzin fight, I feel like with him we see more of that raw bending power (ex. him going up in that whirlwind cyclone thing when he was ambushed) that we've come to love from TLA. Can't wait for next week's episode! Also so sad Season 1 is coming to an end already. I wish they would have 3 seasons...

Thoughts so far as I'm watching.
Like the blue/grey tint for atmosphere.
haha they beat the mechas in all the ways (pretty much) that we suggested they should have the first time they fought (so they aren't OP)
LOL tenzin's kids are awesome Lol meelo
OH SHIT they're following tenzin''s family
What about all the air acolytes on the island? are they inside or ran away?
LOL naga owned that 2nd in command dude
Wow lin so badass, but shit they got her easily ;O
Hm they turn back after they got lin? so they retreated or were they after lin not tenzin?
OMG it's "iroh"! Haha same voice actor as zuko. I wonder why they decided it was ok to use same voice actor, aside from him being zuko's grandson (?).

From what I read earlier in the thread. A voice actor died and they decided to use Zuko for him.

I don't know, having the same voice actor do the same voice in the same series feels really odd to me. Don't hate it, just wish they tweaked it a bit.
|
I feel like getting the same voice actor is fine, I mean father's often sound like their sons and so forth. I just think he shouldn't have sounded exactly like Zuko. Gruff the voice up a bit.

Well Iroh's first voice actor died, the TLA Iroh not the new young one. His name was Mako. Zuko's VA is dante basco. Same as new Iroh.

Like is able to unblock whatever Amon is doing? Especially after today's episode. + Show Spoiler +I don't think what Amon is doing is permanent, but rather some advance chi blocking. Look at the difference between his and Aangs style. Aang is always facing the target and has to go into the Avatar State to do it. Amon as seen in todays episode willingly goes behind the target to "take away" their bending and after its over the target looks like they got knocked out, kind of like when Ty Lee would do her chi blocking moves to people. Also, Aang and Amon use different chakras to "take away" their targets bending. The Lion Turtle taught Aang how to energy bend and he uses the forehead and heart, as Amon uses the forehead and back of the neck. Something smells fishy. Looking more into it I found these. Sound Chakra: Located in the throat: Deals with truth and is blocked by lies, the ones we tell ourselves.
Light Chakra: Located in the center of the forehead: Deals with insight and is blocked by illusions.
Amon targets these chakras when he "takes away" peoples bending.
U FIGURED IT OUT NICE! I wonder why the neck instead of throat. More scary that he comes behind you? Or is it so that it doesn't look like you're choking his throat? Or maybe it's cus holding his neck back helps keep them from struggling

though from the season finale preview it seems like the united army has its ass handed to them by the equalists, all their ships out of commission in the water while korra fights back.
Damn that sucks, why didn't they bring more. I mean it's the whole world vs part of Republic City... unless the equalist movement was already growing around the world together, somehow... How do they lose? Underestimated? Oh well. Or maybe he will have some zuko in him, and be overconfident or impatient and doesn't wait for reinforcement or something.
I wonder what will happen to him. His army lose and he travel with Lin Tenzin and avatar gang?

Why do I have the weird feeling that the United forces are going to do just as well as the UED?
Haha yea. But really this is one of the thing you just got to go with the show. For example maybe the screws were too far. Maybe the screws are platinum. Maybe she can't see all the screws so she thought it was inefficient to go for them. Maybe removing screws wouldn't make the ship completely fall apart (not likely but yea...). Also it wouldn't be nearly as dramatic or epic. Bending that much metal, and the ambient sound and sound effects and animation and all really gave a feel of her giving lots of effort into it.

Nice GIF! Someone commented it's not too impressive, I agree. But unless you're experienced it must have taken a long time to make. I've tried animation before and it's pretty tough to do such a long sequence, let alone polishing everything so that it doesn't look too awkward. Timing, length of body parts to keep it stylized (if wanted) or to keep it real, etc. etc.

Hm yea didn't think of that. Why is his voice exactly the same? He's not got other voices practiced enough or something? VA should have a variety of voices (or at least if they want to be flexible).
Also age-wise he could be son or grandson. Hard to say really. He could be 20, he could be 30. You could have a kid at 20, you could have a kid at 50.

Don't know if we should spoiler everything right now since many people haven't watched it but
+ Show Spoiler +I will be severely depressed if Lin loses her bending

The nations still exist right? So other than the army Iroh is coming with (looked fire nation or maybe that was just the ship he was on because that's his home nation) there should still be pretty big armies from the Fire Nation, Water Tribe and especially the Earth Kingdom.

The one that General Iroh is bringing is the United Army or whatever, so it's probably the only world standing army at the moment. My guess is after the war every soldier went home, or every national army was near disbanded. The one coming to save Republic City, seems kind of like how a UN coalition army would work.

The way I took it was that the united republic is kind of like if the UN was given it's own country.

The more I think about it, the more the setting of this reminds me of Appleseed...

I actually think that they could have just used Zuko's voice actor and done some very minor tweaking to the bass or tweaked it to sound just a little deeper. That way, it would still be very recognizable but not exactly the same.

His voice is no problem to me. I got excited and had to rewind to rewatch to confirm it was really his voice... then they called him Iroh. =D
Random thoughts: - Airbender kids are awesome, Meelo still #1. Why isn't he a master yet? He invented fart bending. Give that nigga some tattoos! - I expected the White Lotus guys to get assraped just like everyone else. They were way outnumbered so them losing eventually was expected, but I'm glad they kicked some ass before dying. They're supposed to be super badass secret society people, after all. (well maybe not so secret anymore) - I generally dont care about relationship stuff so I'm indifferent to the love triangle as long as it doesnt take up too much time. Or do something gay (like have Asami change sides... I like her) - Speaking of Asami. When they faught the mechs, she was the coolest of everyoen during that fight. - Lin ;( She kicks ass but does retarded things. She should know not to use cables against him by now, and if yes, at the very least to not grab his goddamn electric batons. At least she did some ballin' earthbending. Also if she did any thinkin gat all she could have done much better against those airships. In fact, going further... she doesnt use her seisemic sense. If she did, they woudlnt have snuck up on her. -.- - Episode 1: Police airships everywhere randomly flying around and patrolling. Now? Nowhere to be found except when theyre crashing. And theres NO WAY the METALBENDING POLICE should lose an air battle against METAL AIRSHIPS.

Those magnets, man.

O_o I dont see what magnets are gunna do in an airship battle. Pull the other stihp towards u? You saw what happened when a car and a mech meet, right?
I feel like I'm being an idiot and missing the point.
Mako finally redirecting that electricity was cool too. And come to think of it did Bolin say a single word this episode?

It was kind of a joke but what are the metalbending police going to do in an airship battle? At range, they're not better than anyone else if they get shot down by cannon fire, and if they try to board the ship after getting close they'd probably be outnumbered and the equalists are absurdly prepared to fight metalbenders.
