Speaking to Total Film Magazine, the lovely Charlize Theron answered a few questions about Prometheus, the Alien prequel that's being marketed as not a prequel. Here's what Theron had to say:
When we asked if her role in the Alien sorta-prequel would be comparable to Sigourney Weaver’s iconic Ripley:
THERON: “No, I actually don’t play the heroine in it; that’s Noomi Rapace. I play somewhat of a villain in it.” [My character] is not a believer, she’s not a scientist, she is the red tape that everyone has to go through. She’s working with the company that’s sponsoring this whole thing and you can feel she definitely has an agenda, which we pick up in the third act. She’s more quiet thunder.
On whether any xenomorphs burst out of unsuspecting chests in Prometheus:
THERON: “Maybe! I mean if you’re a Ridley Scott fan and you love the genre, then you’re going to be happy. You’re going to be very, very happy.”
that trailer is one of the best ive seen. the alien series has always had the best atmosphere and look of any sci-fi films, and this is no exception. ridley... please stay sci-fi now.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The atmosphere is unbelievably good.
What I like about the original Alien and older movies in generel is that the actors look like normal persons and not Hollywood superstars/models...to me it dumbs down the overall impression. Also in Alien 1-3 pretty much everything was dirty and disgusting as hell. I didnt see any of that in the trailer.

A very good point, this trailer everything is so shiny and polished. Im honestly not sure what to think but it is a bit weird seeing a halo-style super clean look and thinking "Alien movie."
would have loved to see some fresh unfamiliar faces for this reboot, but we'll see how it goes.
First, not a reboot.
Second, those weren't fresh and unfamiliar back then. The only one who was was Weaver herself; the rest were established actors in their day. Hell, John Hurt had the greatest star-power, which is why Scott had him killed off first.

Dirty and disgusting depends on where you are. If you're on a little freighter in the ass-end of nowhere, like Alien 1, sure. If you're in a base that's been overrun by Xenomorphs like in Aliens, absolutely. If you're in a prison like Alien 3, certainly.
But if you're on a top-of-the-line military starship like the Sulaco in Aliens... not so much with the dirt and disgusting, was it?
"Dirty and disgusting" should be used where it makes sense. Where it doesn't make sense, it should not be used.
I honestly think they already show too much in the trailer.
But Sir Ridley has his paws on it, I sincerely hope those hollywood money scoundrels will let him have his way (and maybe a director's cut *crossing fingers*) with this one.
So they force Scott to shoot the movie for a PG-13 Audience and allow him to shoot some extra footage for his own director's cut R-rated version of the movie ( The good one that we will get like one year later for christmas )
I feel I am already expecting too much from this...
I really love how the movie seems to have alot of planetary scenes and seems to be more on a grander scale. The old alien movies were primarily focused within a spaceship etc.

Obvious troll is obvious.
Quite excited for this, the first 2 Alien movies are some of my favorite films. I'm honestly a little sad that the Xenomorph isn't making at least a cameo, but it's pretty hard for something to continue to be scary for 30 years.
The setting is really what made the movies for me more than the Xenomorph though, so I have high hopes that this will continue that tradition of gritty sci-fi, instead of the standard space opera stuff that Hollywood cranks out.
