Guys, I don't know how much more happiness, excitement, and love I can handle. This is incredible, and you are all incredible. I'm proud to count myself as one of you, and so proud to be a brony. ^_^

These ponies came to me at a the best time possible, letting me know that there is a driving, guiding force behind this all. Early in the summer I had for the first time tried ayahuasca. Not something that can be explained simply, so if you want to know about it in more detail hit me up in a PM or something. Ayahuasca is an south american brew made by the shamans/chamans/chamanistas/medicine men/healers etc. of the upper and lower amazonian regions. The first component being DMT and a second acting as your MAOI( or sometimes referred to as your MAO Inhibitor). DMT or Dimethyltryptamine is a naturally occurring psycadelic of the tryptamine family. DMT is made endogenously-meaning you make it yourself- and produced in the direct center of your brain. You release DMT when you are born, dreaming, during near death experiences, and at the time of death. There are methods of extracting DMT in crystallized forms and smoking it, but the experience can be jouncing as it happens in the space of 5 or 7 minutes. You will think that you have been gone for hours for the shear amount of travelling and unraveling the experience takes you through. What the shamans of the amazon have done is taken another plant that acts as your MAOI and allowed DMT to be taken orally. This makes the experience last for hours and is generally more calming as you can feel our lady sister that is ayahuasca through you. No one experience is the same however. How these two random plants in the heart of the place on earth with the most variety of plants existing today were brought together and brewed in a particular manner(spanning at least a full eight hours on specific temperatures) has always escaped western scientists. The shamans say that the plants told them, and i'm inclined to believe them. The experience is thus the most relaxing, calming, welcoming, enlightening, heart felt and touching one I believe possible for humans. You can be at full peace with everything and have an infinite amount of doorways to explore. Anything that we have created or can imagine lives in some twisting of the light into a separate yet whole and always within all other dimensions. We are so limited by language, unable to express ourselves. It seems obvious that as things are our language is not doing us a whole lot of good. So much can only be known by seeing and experiencing; and often the only thing we see is people in suites talking themselves into loops. The way is never the same for everybody, and we cannot assume that all are equal for that's already a lie. As our ponies have shown us, it's our strengths and weaknesses, differences in a combined manner that make up us mortals; we are not the same. The next step that led me on this path that I am on today was a particular book series: Malazan, Book of the Fallen. This is a masterpiece among fantasy stories, but it's not about anything specific or any specific character. The world that is dived into goes thousands of years back, giving berth to many peoples, and yet seeing the same things happen over and over again; mortals will be mortal. Each book is it's own carefully, precisely orchestrated story filled with events keeping you interested the whole time with absolutely epic convergences at the end. But the most powerful part of it is how touching it is. It is the book of the fallen and you will see many friends add their name to the list of the fallen and the fact that I cannot forget a single one of them is almost unbearable. These books opened me up to so much, raw emotions being felt that were almost alien to me. The characters live within their own world, and everybody gets their own PoV whether it's the front line infantry or the crippled artist on the streets of Darujhistan. The final book in the main series- the book of the fallen- absolutely blew me away with emotions. Emotions I know feel freely and I believe were absolutely instrumental to my love for this show MLP:FiM. The simple fact is that history tells us nothing of the lives before us. Well those lives are our lives, and if there's one thing us mortals know is suffering. I will end this bit about MBotF with this passage from The Crippled God. And now the page before blurs. An age is done. The book must close. We are abandoned to history. Raise high one more time the tattered standard of the Fallen. See through the drifting smoke to the dark stains upon the fabric. This is the blood of our lives, this is the payment of our deeds, all soon to be forgotten. We were never what people could be. We were only what we were. Remember us. I often hear people saying that they wish this was real, to live in Equestria with these ponies. Know that this is real, that by our creative inspiration we have made a living breathing world. Perhaps at times it feels like you cannot physically touch it, but the influence it carry's on our lives shows just how real it is. In the infinite realms of infinite possibilities there is no doubt, in my mind at least, that getting your presence there is only a matter of discovery. I feel that the greatest injustice science has done to us is to say that you are not worth anything. That we are only a random occurrence of many things coming together in a random world. You often hear that you are not good enough, you need a degree, you need a job, get a this get a that, then you are somebody( or somepony). Well I denounce that belief system entirely, I think it entirely more likely that we are the center stage of the cosmos, unraveling at very precarious and indeed perilous time. Just remember that every hypothesis, theory, law etc that has been created has eventually be proven untrue. Discord walks among us my friends, and none are safe from the changing of the universe. The universal experience is you, which intricies and complexities unfound by humans and unfathomable by humans. It may be that our existence is a dream, that our souls are fragments of a confused, broken, deranged god. Or one experiencing itself subjectively through this and all we have to do is remember who we are. So long as we are keeping our options open we are playing with a full deck. And as Gary Oak could tell you, our house MTG player, never cut your cards short. Through these trials I have come to find this amazing show that's just too remarkable for words, of course to introduce it to anybody you just have to sit them down to experience it rather than let them complain or nagger on. There is no way I could appreciate it's depth and feel what I feel without the path that I took to get here, and I would never have it any other way. So thanks again Gmarshal for this wonderious thread and your wonderful recent post depicting the shear brilliance of the show. Peace, love, thug life.

It's just a TV show. I spend hours of my time on it and its fanbase but it shouldn't be life-changing.

Eh, I think your missing something essential here. Though I disagree with the life changing bit, it was never the ponies that were life changing for me indeed the idea to me in the past even as a brony was laudable. I set that post up in a two tiered fashion to show the two most influential things on my life, and where ponies rank into that is considerably lower. Where ponies will rank in the future, who can say? It's just a great relief to see this sort of community blossom from this show when I wouldn't see this sort of compassion and understanding outside of any of the shamanic communities. It's a huge step for the western world to take in an otherwise narcissistic and downright rude society. EDIT: And it is because of the other things in my life that the ponies have been able to touch me. Nothing is ever quite clear or concise with me. EDIT#2: As to the life changing bit, well we can't assume to know what everybody's life is like. For some this may change their outlook in a purely positive manner in which they would have otherwise crashed and burned. There's just so many people out there, especially in the last couple centuries, who are we to know or judge what impacts their life? If there is somebody who sees MLP:FiM as the upper echelon of existence then that's okay to me as I see many who see starcraft as such and so forth. Who are we to judge? Where does this idea of judgement come from, as if it is justified in any sense.
