Just take the whole Bolton's bastard issue: It's pretty much established that Theon's torturer is the Bolton bastard in the show thread, and they're right, of course. And yes, there are enough hints in the show alone to come to that conclusion. But immediately after people started wondering who that torturer is, people came to that thread and pointed out how Bolton's sigil is a guy on a cross, and how the Bolton's words are something to do with a flayed man, and how the Boltons always liked to torture their vicitms, and so on.
Ignoring the issue on whether House Bolton's words were ever mentioned on the show, or that the Bolton sigil is only shown in the background in the show (and never once directly associated with the Boltons), it just takes one guy pointing these things out to convince the genuine show watches of the fact that Theon's torturer is the Bolton bastard. And from that point on show watchers will treat this as fact and tell other show watchers that speculate about the guy's identity. All it takes is one smart post (either from a very clever show watcher, or a book reader with a very small penis) and the show watchers will start to spoil each other.
This is what happens with Robb: His death has been predicted so often now - at least in parts by people blatantly spoiling the books - that by now it's the established theory. And now that the show watchers have the theory, they can look at the hints that they otherwise would have overlooked. And all the hints show that the theory appears to be correct, so they continue to speculate on that basis.
It doesn't even take blatant spoilers for that kind of result. Book readers know what hints to look at in the show ("Look, that's the Bolton's sigil, right? Looks just like Theon on his cross!"), all they have to do is to point at those hints in the other thread to nudge show watches in the right direction.
So, yeah, I think forbidding any kind of speculation (or making people put it into spoilers) would be a good thing. You make many fair points. I think I have been convinced. It is a bit unfair about the Bolton Bastard and Robb's death thing though.

Yeah mass spoiler. It's like Kwark give this clear explaination how robb is not stupid and has his whole army with him. And they are like "The frey will betray, Robb is dead"
|
Another fun thing to consider: Not a single soul has predicted Ros' death in the other thread. Not a single post has even been made noting how she was working for Varys, and that it might spell trouble for her in the future. Funny, eh?

Well there is also people predicting stuff from the books that turns out to not happen in the show.
The flaying of Theon is the best example. There were people "predicting" Theon will be flayed in season 2 ffs, and so far he has been tortured, but no flaying has been shown.
It really, really sucks when people just insist on being assholes

There was a guy predicting the red wedding pretty exactly. I hit filter (mod powers) to see all his posts in that topic and 5 of 7 of them were predictions and 5/5 of the predictions were very accurate.

Is there no way you can privately warn him so it doesn't give it away to everyone else?

Haha! Excellent! I cried when I read about the Red Wedding. Also looking forward to seeing my friend's face as she is absolutely enamoured by Robb Stark.

Fucking asshole... Soon enough everybody will see the Red Wedding from a mile away, just like the book readers (excluding me, I was absolutely shocked and awed) did... Pathetic.

Hahah, I think that if someone really really cares about getting spoiled, just stay out of internet threads where the show is discussed. It sucks for someone that loves to discuss shows on the internet, but there's really nothing that can be done when the shows plot is already known.
I think it would be pretty lame to have a no prediction/speculation policy,

You have the same amount of posts as my birth year ^_^ But yeah. I think some one needs to PM that guy. Additionally, I was very skeptical when I got there in the book but I too was shocked and horrified and was absolutely useless for about a day at the sheer gruesomeness. Infact I almost put down the book and decided to not read on. I think that is a problem with GRRM, he started off with the Starks, making them the main protagonist family, and then goes on to kill them all off and break peoples hearts. I think I am just a horribly oblivious person who lives more in the past than trying to predict the future.

What if he's just a rain man at predicting stuff that happens?

The show gave very, very few hints towards it being Bolton's Bastard. No way in hell is a smart show watcher ever going to know. Also, they didn't specifically mention that the Bolton's burned down winterfell or make any mention to it during Season 3 so far, yet people go there and claim it's "fact".
There are just way to many assholes spoiling absolutely everything in the other thread.
I think the mods just need to go super ban heavy on people who make ridiculously accurate predictions, especially when it comes to Ramsey Bolton

Well one of my co-workers is an avid show watcher but has not read the books, and he came to me after the Karstark incident and he told me Robb was fucked and probably going to die soon. So while it is true that in the other thread there are a lot of people with "too accurate predictions", the show is hinting at the RW much more strongly than the book did. I mean in the book, when Robb drank Frey's water and eat his bread and salt, I was sure nothing bad would happen to him in there.
