Well, I don't remember if he has to explain his main power, or if he needed to do that for one of the powers in his book back to the Spiders arc. First case, it makes sense, it's one of the sacrifice he had to do to make his power as strong as it is, but if it's the second, he's dumb.

I think you're thinking of the conditions Chrollo requires to steal an ability:

- He must witness the Nen ability in action with his eyes.
- He must ask about the ability and be answered by the victim.
- His victim's palm must touch the handprint on the cover of Bandit's Secret.
- All of the above must be done within an hour

Nothing about this says he has to tell them about his powers, and especially not about his stolen powers. It really does just seem to be for the plot, though it will be explained as hubris when Hisoka beats him; it just doesn't seem in his character to do this sort of thing imo.

In this case, it doesn't really fit, you're right.
I do like the fact that, in the end, he's just another fighting fool like Hisoka, but that's a ton of explanations.

I think Chrollo explaining his power himself makes it easier for the plot but it also fits the character.
He's a psycho who loves to fight, his purpose is not to win at all cost, if it was he would have used the rest of the ghost brigade to hunt Hisoka but he didn't, he just borrowed the power of some of them and took the fight in a place where those powers could be used in a flashy way. Chrollo has a lot of hubris, it showed when he faced the Zoldigs and didn't fight at 100% even though he almost died.
He's also a sadist, maybe killing Hisoka (who indirectly caused the death of Uvoguine) in a one sided fashion wouldn't satisfy him.
And of course there is also the possibility that he gave all these information to mislead Hisoka or to try and get him to talk about his own Nen in an attempt to steal it. For example he didn't talk about the special use of the Black voice ability (the self use to gain amazing strenght).

Togashi is one of the few (maybe the only) mangaka who doesn't have his characters needlessly explain their abilities for convenience and instead uses external explanations or flash backs to get the reader to understand them. The fact that he doesn't and actually makes character try and figure out what they are facing is why I think his fights are the best in the business despite the sometimes horrendous drawings.

i was thinking exactly that, Chrollo is the bloody cold-blooded merciless killer who never act like the usual villian (aka explaining all the shit to the enemy). his face looks so different as well.

I am glad HxH is back but this plot is just not cutting it so far, this is 2016 already.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure does it, and pretty well.
We're guessing the weaknesses and limits of the stands at the same time as the main characters.

This transition has been all so confusing. Being introduced to the whole Hisoka vs Chrollo fight and now being bombarded by wave of new ability from Chrollo is a lot of information to take in Not to mention this is only happening on the side and we don't even know where the hell Gon is.

This could of been handled more smoothly i think

not sure how one read any superpower fighting without thinking 'ah man jojo did this about 10x better'. but nowadays I don't like to bring up jojo in hxh discussion because strangely enough many hxh fans don't read or don't know about jojo

I mean, nen, is a literal copy of stand lol. that nen beast

I could not get into Jojo. I read the first 20ish chapters or so because I wanted to give an effort but the characters and plot just seemed ridiculous and the story seemed so dumb. It's hard to express what I felt but it just seemed very cartoonish and wish fulfillment and in the end I just couldn't seem to suspend my disbelief and accept the characters and the world.

Do you really think it's worth it to try to go further?

try jojo6, read the opening arc of it (you will know when is it finished), and if you couldn't stop then there you go, another jojo fan join the club! if you still dont like it then meh, the artsyle is not for everyone I guess. story/fighting wise, my best friend back then who is a hardcore hxh fan but never read jojo, I threw him some jojo books and after he read them his response was: 'Jesus christ hxh now looks like for kids'. of course me and him still read hxh today, he is still more of a hxh fan than me haha

The art is fine, I mean the characters and the plot were cartoonish. Is jojo6 better than number 1?

It's completely different. Jojo 1 is basically something really close to Hokuto no Ken, and in a way, Jojo 2 too, even if it already starts creating its own rules there. After this, it depends on what you want to read. I would not have recommended 6 over 3, 4 or 5 (I really love 7 too but would not recommend it as a first read either).

3 is still a bit old school, but introduces the stand concept. While most of them are not really complicated, and used almost exclusively for fights, most of the battles use wits, and brain over brawn, because no one is going full Bleach, explaining their powers. Jojo 4 is in a more peaceful setting, and the "fights" (or confrontation could be a better word sometimes) are getting more complicated and interesting. Jojo 5 is more or less 3 with the complexity of 4 - and is my favorite.

You can start with 6 too but I found it a little bit more confusing if you aren't already familiar with at least one of the 3/4/5.

I am confused, how can he heal himself? I understand that he replaced his body part with bungee gum but he only covered his damage body part and face with texture surprise so under all of that texture surprised, he still looks like crap right?

He infused his skin/muscle tissue with his nen imbued gum and then applied texture to his limbs.

The hunt is on! OMG SO Hyped for this to get animated lol, gonna get that naration! Full episode of goodness ez.

Totally agree, so in character of Hisoka, took me a minute to realize he killed the members that allowed Chrollo to rek him so friggin hard Too bad I liked Machi tho... Samurai guy gonna be a fun fight. Lets see if he is with any of the other Spiders. But I am going to guess that Hisoka will look for 1on1s.

I liked it, if just for the fact that he shows that in the HxH universe, being prepared is the most important thing. Chrollo won effortlessly because he planed ahead, and for once a "vilain" giving informations about his abilities for fun didn't back fire at all.

Now I imagine the Spiders are going to become guards for one of the prince and Hisoka will find a way to buddy up with Kurapika to get to them.
