Did you watch the original anime first or read the manga first?
I think the new rendition is a much more accurate adaption of the manga than the original.
Some of the things you pointed out, such as Hisoka's fight sequence during the first trial were admittedly annoying, but nowhere near as bothersome as completely warping Killua's charcter. They took the well rounded one given to us by Togashi and warped it into some sappy quiet douchebag.
I don't really get the whole pacing issue. I think you're just comparing it to the first anime, as it pretty much hits all of the essentials of the manga. I haven't watched the latest episode yet, but if they skipped the sushi scene, I'll be pretty fucking pissed. Has the hair color changed throughout the first few episodes? Or has it just changed from the original? Or from color spreads? I'm colorblind, so I don't always pick up on those things
I agree that it's annoying they removed the blood. It's definitely been cut back for kids, which is disappointing considering the series tackles some pretty heavy issues. That said, it's a sign of the times. Having blood or not doesn't make or break something for me. A personal aesthetic, I guess.

Actually what they did was a little more creative: They combined the pork and sushi challenges. Instead of just catching the pigs for Buhara to stuff his face, they asked the challengers to prepare them in away that would satisfy Menchi's palate as well. So it merged the two themes without wasting a whole episode on the second challenge.
Personally, I'm kinda liking the way each episode has been compressed into a self-contained storyline. I find series like that a lot more digestible than endless strings of to-be-continued cliffhangers.
OHHH GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I LOVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THISSSSSSSSSSSSSS MMMAAANNNGGAAAAAAAAA
okay
phew, okay im okay now..
yeah so, I caught a few issues of hunter x hunter at the end of the king arc into the introduction of Alluka and was totally confused but really interested in the style and apparent complexity, and so the other day I started reading it from issue 1 and I could not stop reading it and fell in looooooovvvvvvvvveeeeee. I read all 300 in a day into a night into the morning into the next day. It's just so incredibly brilliant. Easily #1 on my excitement chart of the 15 or so Mangas I'm now keeping up with.
I just noticed that Kurapika and Leorio are not among the people who visited Gon. What on earth could they be doing that are THAT important that they wouldn't come see Gon? l0l. I get that they're going to get some kind of "epic entrance" for not being denied spotlight for like more than half the manga at this point, so I'm just genuinely curious what they're up to.
was there any update on the removal of kurapika's nen ability on dancho? as far back as the greed island ark at the end of it i remember hisoka and them located a nen remover good enough to undo his chain on dancho, and yet there was no follow up after that.

Leo is in med school and I'm sure both of them don't even KNOW Gon is injured. The only people who were with Gon are people who went with him on the mission and the Hunter's association covered everything up so probably no one knows what actually happened.
