There is a correlation between peaking physically and mentality, and the first is not reserved for sports, as it is more a mentality. I mean in athletics it means you need to carefully find the balance between training and recovery so that your body can be in optimal condition during the most important events. Peaking too soon or training too hard means your body will go into recovery during the event and your wattage output will be lower. I don't see how this would effect Dota players since there's no lingering effects from playing Dota that would put you into recovery.

At least for DOTA, I guess it kind of depends on how you play. If you have a distinctive style, "showing" your play too early gives people more time to look for counters. But that's only it you depend on the style over execution (which honestly may be AF's problem in this event - e.g. all those arrow misses from earlier, were those "almost hits but bad luck" or "inaccurate play that matters if you're not winning"? If you're depending on execution, I can see an argument for "peaking too soon" in an individual event in terms of effort reserved, but I don't know that it makes sense to say you can "peak too soon" during a season. But then I guess every team has a "style" in DOTA to some extent.

Alright? I just don't agree that single elim is the reason for this lopsided finals.
