I could see your perspective on having a team make it to winners without having won a single series but you could just change it up like they did before where a series win gave you 3 points as opposed to a point per win. Is it that big of a fallacy that OG lost to MVP? Okay, the not winning a single game thing wasn't necessary, I prefer the 2 points for win and 1 point for tie opposed to the 3-1-0 distribution that soccer does. My issue is that MVP gets 6 points, does poorly in the group stages (like not winning a single series), OG does far better, and yet once the real tournament starts, they are essentially at the same spot.

Nope, I just wasn't ever on board with 2 group stages, but I don't see any superior alternatives. It's one of those "I don't like any of the ice cream in this shop but don't hate any of it either" sorts of scenarios for me.

Ok so the actual problems is: The low seeds have to play an inhuman amount of games which makes their position literally impossible. There are not enough games for the high seeds to prove anything and there are no contingencies after the first game like a regular upper bracket. The viewability of the bracket is absolutely messy and one is supposed to have a system that a new viewer can quickly grasped. King of the Hill, pools, brackets, groups are easy. This is just a harder bracket to follow which might just be the graphical rendition of it, but i honestly think my mom couldn't understand it with a glance, while any person can understand the brackets atm. it doesn't really allow for a lot of preparation and timing issues are the most glaring issues, but i believe that accessibility in the system is the best. Just like the TI3 system or whatever. Or GSL Code S. Or LOL WC. or anything at EVO.

OG is maybe my least favorite western team, it has nothing to do with that. The format that we currently have was annoying in TI5 too (I don't like that you can come 4th in groups, and win one match and be top 6, while 1st in group loses one match and they are top 12). Compound that with the Bo1 first round losers bracket that defeats the purpose of any rankings between the 5th-8th team, it's just bad.

You can definitely make the argument that being able to choose is supposed to give you a big advantage but does it really? Regardless, there's an actual discussion to be had here.

I'm gonna reiterate something I think lolfail9001 pointed out earlier, which is still the fact that 4 teams had a worse record than MVP, and competition is relative to everyone else, and not an objective marker.
