no eg is way ahead. alch being as behind in networth as he was throughout the game is such a huge deficit for VP that they were never in a solid lead imo

i was talking about that fight in top tier 2

I don't think there is any potential for VP this game to pull off a surprise teamfight win. The only thing that would turn the game is Aui/Sumail going alone and getting picked off but they are just walking around together.

it's a new patch and everything changes. that's why the 12invites was the worst to do in the fist place.

I, at some point want the person who authorized 12 invites' take on that. Maybe it was for viewership reasons?
While I thought and still think, that increasing the amount of invites was the opposite direction, my take on this is that the playing field is very levelled, and who will stand out can be any team that has good experience. The bigger teams would likely not qualify before the Major, but might very well peak at a Major. Of course they don't want to be without teams that have the most viewers, so it is a safeguard and a trust that they will find their stride, which they very well might do in time.

They invited 12 because 2 Chinese teams won the LANs coming up. OG had a spot because of Frankfurt, which complicated matters. It also works for Valve giving the other LANs an important value.

Not saying I agree with 12 invites, especially LGD's (though, if you go by LAN results, there's really no one else to suggest), but Valve had fairly logical reasons without having to add a Wild-Card round.

Inviting LGD over Newbee was the only clear mistake. It was an invitational LAN, while Newbee was tearing up everything back in China.

It wasn't a mistake. It's just the unfortunate result of the churn of the tournament scene & the post-Major Shuffle.

Newbee was a better team, but Valve has staked out a "What have you done on LAN?" position (quite logically). So it's more just annoying.

I really hope the Fall Major has 20 or 24 spots, though. That'd be really good.

Like I said it's an invitational LAN. Having mediocre results in that should means nothing, but Valve doesn't realise that. Having mediocre results in a normal LAN is totally different, since you are already the top few teams in the world when you went through qualifiers.

I feel like this exact thing happens in every EG game. Against the top teams, Sumail feeding inexplicably like that 2-3 times per game is a deciding factor.

Not sure about the logic in your argument, more what lies there, that you don't mention.

2(3 actually) Chinese teams winning Lans and OG winning a major doesn't complicate anything. They paint themselves into this corner because they realize that EG, Secret made significant changes that makes them look like dogshit for quite a while, and meanwhile they are pushing for more NA teams, more SEA teams... and ultimately catering to a CIS team that did alright for a few weeks. They have understandably a hard time figuring out which teams will actually be any good come Manila, because outside MVP there has been little consistency.

They were not keen on inviting much less Chinese teams, and fortunately they didn't really have to, since the Chinese won some tournaments this year.

Against pro-teams, smoke makes it impossible for avoid every ganks. That is why there is a limited number of them.
