3 Western teams and 3 Chinese teams in top6. I think it's fair.

VP probably picked Fnatic because that whole team is very emotional and they got shit rekt the last couple days of groups. NaVI is known for playing better when backs are against the wall. Pretty much every TI (TI3, TI2, TI4 First round of losers). I have a feeling VP would rather play NaVi in a BO3 than BO1. Fnatic just looks lost and without hope. Those Col Games and LGD games were rough.

Cause Korea is bad ? IG is not a strong team, and I hope both MVP teams move through to the BO3.

I hate BO1's though in a world championship tourney... I don't know why valve would extend the tourney but still have 1st round BO1.... That 1 game is worth over 150k.....

I don't think Korea teams any worse than any other region, they just don't have really scary teams like EG, Secret. Both MVPs can take games off any team at the event.

And I am sure we will find out the Bo1 is due to venue restrictions and time. Are any elimination matches in the losers bracket going to be Bo1?

The first 4 games of Losers are BO1. So 4 teams are eliminated in a BO1. That's rough.

Well, in korean Starcraft: BroodWar it was usual to avoid team-kills (when 2 teammates are facing each other), and one of the reasons is that when you train very often with each other very weird mind-games and off-bit strategies starts to dominate, and in weird settings usually a weaker player could become favourite to win.

That being said, yes Dota is different, but still - they are Koreans.

That is harsh, but should be interesting at least. Day one will be a blood bath for sure. I can see why the groups stages were so competitive.

Matchup wise this is a dream bracket for c9. Whether they will rise to the occasion is hard to say, but you pretty much couldn't design the upper bracket better for them.

LGD vs Empire is also an interesting matchup. Last time they played at MarsTV Empire knocked out LGD 2-1. Though LGD is the favorite of course based on their TI performance this far, but interesting to see whether Empire can mount a challenge.

interesting how high quality team will play against techies
as currently techies is a niche unbeatable pick if played by high quality team (EG & Secret, not u CoLololol pfffttt)
so far techies loss only come from CoLololol (pfffttt) against secret
I wonder how EG, Secret, LGD, CDEC will react to techies

I wonder how CDEC does against techies...

arguably, putting the two mvp teams against each other is the safest and most profitable way, as it guarantees one mvp team moves onto lb round 2. in other words, it means one mvp team is guaranteed 12th place which is an extra $150k?

with this move it looks like mvp are putting national pride and camaraderie over money, as there is a real risk they both go out in this round. of course theres also the chance that they both advance make even more money

Why are you worried ? Don't you think that even in the worst possible shape VG will still be able to 15mins stomp this mockery which is Navi ? Dude you gotta believe in your convictions, stay strong.

Scrims together a lot -> weird stuff comes into play -> weaker team could easily be favourite to win. Whats wrong with that?

On the footnote, it says "Each match will begin after the previous one concludes."

The last match could be played earlier or later depending on how long the previous ones took. I feel bad for iG & hot6. Not sure what time they are expected to be ready-to-go, in case all prior matches are 20-min stomps.... but they could potentially be waiting around for a long ass time.
