It's a tournament with 16 teams. At any given time you will never have 16 DotA teams that can be competitive with each other. You're lucky to get 6 that can actually win the championship.
When you watch them play the very least you can ask for is a 'yes' to the question, "Does this team play like they want to win?"

Yes, I'm certain if you could look into the player's heads, they were not thinking "I want to win". They were probably thinking about juggling monkeys and what to have for breakfast the next morning.
Hot6 are not a top 8 team in the world. They are probably good enough to be top 20 right now, and timing and luck got them to TI over equally mediocre teams. No need to spout rhetoric to make it sound any more meaningful than that.
A team doesn't have to be great to show a winning mentality.
MVP.h6 earned their spot by beating out MVP.P in the qualifiers. The fact that they didn't pull an MUFC proves that they can compete at a high level. They didn't look like a top 8 team, but they had their moments which opened the possibility of them pulling an upset or two. Their last game didn't show any of that nor win them fans, but not because they didn't have the potential for it. Saying MVP.h6 played a shit game because they're a shit team going into it is discredits everything they've done.
Although I was a little bit disappointed that they didn't put up a good showing against IG, still proud of Hot6 anyway. I seriously did not expect them to beat out Rave and MVP.Phoenix in the SEA region to directly qualify into the group stage, but they did it. Took games off of 2 teams that played for the title last year, Vici and Newbee, and had some good showing here and there regardless of results (game 1 against EG comes to mind). I mean, they only did 1 game worse than Navi

The 3k MMR shallow grave by Artstyle at the end summed up everything about this team in 2015. It might have not mattered much as it would take longer for XBOCT to fully recover than for VG to destroy the ancient, but still provided good comedy.
