No. Now that C9 failed anyways I completely agree. I just want to see a good and consistent performing Tl squad in a team game for once

Can someone give me a really quick and dirty summary of the metagame shifts? A comeback mechanic was added whereby you got extra gold for kills when you were behind. It was intended, I think, as a nerf to TI4-style deathball strats, but it went too far. This incentivised turtling strats where you allowed yourself to lose the early/mid game, then held onto high ground with everything you had and waited for the other team to fuck up and get wiped trying to break base, at which point you got hella bank for the kills (because you were behind) and turned around to win the game. Sniper was the most memorable hero from this era, because he held high ground like a boss and Shrapnel was stupid-good. Troll Warlord was also very popular in this meta (his ult benefited Sniper and other right-click cores who were popular), as was Juggernaut (who had been buffed every patch in a row for about 8 bajillion years and was finally good). You also saw a lot of Magnus, primarily used for Empower on his right-click carries. Eventually, Sniper, Troll, and Jugg were all nerfed, and the comeback mechanic was tuned downward, which helped eliminate the high ground turtle strats. In 6.84, a bunch of new items were introduced that made Int-based cores like Leshrac, Storm, and core Lina much more viable. Gyro also received some buffs, making him a top-tier carry (primarily due to his strong lane presence for a hero who scales so well late). The current meta features a decent balance of push vs. farm vs. rat. Popular cores are Leshrac, Gyro, QoP, Tusk. Popular supports are Dazzle, Naga, Bounty. You see a surprisingly non-zero amount of Techies (often with Tusk for Snowball>Suicide combo).

It's just the impression I get from interviews when they're asked questions in that direction, but obviously I don't know (and quite likely they don't know for sure yet either). I have the stinging suspicion that you and ptbl might be right. They've probably thinking about DotA 24/7 recently, and when they get a breather to really evaluate their lives, might decide that they're had enough.

They're established names, and are very good at persevering through good times and bad. I think fear doesn't have much longer of a career because of his wrist. I think he has enough self-respect to want to end on a high note rather than fading into obscurity like Loda.

The thing about dota is a team following a bad plan really well will do better than a team following a good plan half-assed. You can have different ideas all you want, but you're still going to follow the plan.
