Toby or LD is really a tossup, so it makes sense to give it to Toby since LD did the grand finals the past two years. Why Merlini, Fckingmad, or even someone like Godz isn't casting over the likes of Lumi is beyond me. He's a veteran who's done a lot for the scene, but there are just far more knowledgeable choices available nowadays. It honestly feels like he's just a Valve favorite at this point. By objective standards, you already have Toby/LD for hype, so why not get a co-caster who actually knows the game at a competitive level and can add insight? To be honest, I imagine Valve wish they had done it differently after seeing Reddit's reaction when Lumi was announced, but they can't very well change who's doing the finals after announcing it, since it would be a huge slap in the face to anyone getting swapped out. Oh well, there's always next year... | ||
