And like the big majority of Liquid fans. Both cases exist.

If you switch teams after your favourite player leaves then it's pretty clear you weren't a fan of the organization to begin with and just liked watching a specific player. Well in most major Sports Franchise fans identify to the organisation for some reason. Either they had players they were fan of when they were young or had parents who were fans or share proximity with said organization/team. In Dota that translates as being fan of Mouz because you are German or Liquid because you like the site or liking some players on a team. I like DK because of the players, I have no feelings about DK as an organization, I don't even know who their sponsors are and I would guess it's the same for most people. It's really just a time issue. Most sports franchises have been around for decades so eventually you become attached to the team itself and not just the players. eSports just hasn't been around long enough for that to happen so it's predominately about the players. that's a succinct way of expressing why i feel it'd be dumb as hell to have team loyalty at this point EDIT the liquid case makes the most sense to me though

Nah, eSports are different from other sports. Loyalty to organisations that mostly last only a couple years is totally different to ones that have been round for over a century. If you want to do that it's fine, but if you don't I don't see the problem. Where I'd make fun of people is if they're a "fan" when a team is winning and not when they're losing despite no changes in personnel.

That's how every major Sports Franchise fans are. They support their team rather than the Individuals that play in them. Thats not really true. In Football, people support players just as much as teams. I was a fan of Tottenham Hotspur for a while because Rafeal van der Vaart played for them. Once he left, I lost interest. A lot of people support Messi, Ronaldo or Ibrahimoviz without necessarily being fan of the team

I agree, we are actually seeing the start of real franchise with EG/Na'Vi and and other long running organizations that expand in different games. I don't know anything about LOL or Street fighter but if I check a stream with an EG/Liquid player I will pretty much automatically root for that guy.

It's your word against Millions. Majority of this Forum supports Liquid since the Inception of their team and still support them to this day even after the Team switches and wonky playstyle because they would like to see the organization do well on a global stage.Does that make them dumb too? i mean when i rooted for jinro back in the early days of sc2 its cuz i recognized his name from the forums, i didn't really like the players they picked up that had never posted on the forums or had any real interaction. so... personally, taht kind of logic is kinda dumb to me but i can see it more. i'll still idly root for notre dame my parents' alma mater, and i get the logic, but it's still dumber than rooting for reasons more related to how they play teh gaem itself, which is determined by the players, not the organization
