If you switch teams after your favourite player leaves then it's pretty clear you weren't a fan of the organization to begin with and just liked watching a specific player. Varies from game to game though. I can understand major sports franchises where there are dozens of players, but these are 5-player teams. It's up to each person.
Like in SC2, where there are teams but not necessarily fans of teams. People might have cheered for a team because they had two of their favorite players along with 5 players they didn't care about. When those players left for another team, they might very well change their opinion and start cheering for their new teams.
This isn't black and white.
GAME IS UP IN CLIENT

Na'Vi being where they are now is somewhat fine, they haven't looked good in a long time. NewBee was just better. I can understand their supporters however, it's never fun to see your team fall apart.

the players make the team, the main reason i like C9 is because i like singsing (because he's the last relevant dutch player, for a large part) but if he goes to some other team ill cheer for them. same goes for (4) and Dendi with navi, Burning on DK...

Personally I don't really think they do much for the tournament. The first match has some big stakes, but the other two are just more seeding matches, after we already had 4 days of round robin for seeding. Just in general losing 8 teams behind essentially "closed doors" and extending hotel dota even further with these bubble races doesn't improve the tournament at all in my opinion. i enjoyed the 16 team round robin stage and that would have been impossible at the main event. i'm also not salty that teams are msising from main event since i'm not actualyl going to keyarena (salty about that), so i don't mind the format. i feel kind of bad for liquid that they got put into their deciding bo3 vs lgd based on head to head calculations, but their games vs lgd kinda cemented the fact that they still lacked the polish to be a top contender, so whatever
I enjoyed the group stage aswell but of course there is room for improvement. I dislike the bubble bracket. The first match is way too important especially when the teams playing it do so because of head to head results. I'm not sure how I feel about seeing some teams play 500 more matches than others. I don't see it as a punishment it just doesn't feel right to me.

This announcer hype as fuck

C9 versus Na'vi is going to be a complete clusterfuck; no lead will ever be safe. That show will be 3 days away so now lets focus on IG vs NB. aaaaaaaaaaaaaand Razer First ban.

Well in most major Sports Franchise fans identify to the organisation for some reason. Either they had players they were fan of when they were young or had parents who were fans or share proximity with said organization/team.
In Dota that translates as being fan of Mouz because you are German or Liquid because you like the site or liking some players on a team.
I like DK because of the players, I have no feelings about DK as an organization, I don't even know who their sponsors are and I would guess it's the same for most people.

It's really just a time issue. Most sports franchises have been around for decades so eventually you become attached to the team itself and not just the players. eSports just hasn't been around long enough for that to happen so it's predominately about the players.
