You can't underestimate iceiceice. I hope they let invoker slip through for him.
|
That is probably accurate. I think it is also pretty telling that the top 4 teams are teams that have not had any roster changes in a long time. Zenith added Loda just in May or June i believe.
Maybe it's a chicken and egg thing though. If you are winning , no need to change roster.
But there is something to be said about actually sticking with your teams and tough it out. A lot of teams can stand to learn from that.

Its a bit disappointing that there are 3 chinese teams left but it shows how well the competition format has worked to me. The 4 strongest teams are the ones left and its set up for a great final day.

Zenith... Sad but this is the furthest you're able to go. I don't think they underperformed and I don't think they overperformed. They played their level and that's how far it took them. It's like I've seen a ghost I agree kind of, though I was a bit surprised Zenith was able to go quite this far. Zenith is actually quite a good team as you clearly just saw with their run in TI2. yeah, I think Na`vi showed us that anything can happen in game 1, if it were a bo3 it could have been very different. I don't know, i feel more like there is a real gap between Zenith and DK (DK has beaten them 2 0 in groupstage). But that not mean Zenith is weak. I just think the ranking is : lgd/navi/ig/dk > zenith > others
Well yeah, clearly DK is better as I expected them to 2-0 Zenith if it was a BO3, however they performed at the level they are currently at, which is clearly top 5 in the world. If I remember correctly, Zenith only started competing in Dota 2 recently (in the past few months) with 2ish months of bootcamp and they could only vs SEA teams with chinese teams bootcamping for months on end, thus only vsing sub par (no offense) teams and stomping them.

No Zenith has been playing since the last TI. They scrim a lot with the Chinese actually. I don't think this is a matter of preparation for them. Maybe one thing that is not so ideal was that Loda joined them way too late for them to gel properly. So they kinda had to use him in a limited way ( long laners).
When Loda was Slardar earlier, often he was either too early or too late. There were a lot of times he hit multiple heroes with crushes but his team were not there, or that he arrived late to fights. Some problem with disruption-crushes timing as well.
That and hyhy really underperformed this tournament imo. He didn't play well except for some Morph games in which Zenith was stomping.

Ive been a fan of DK for a while so hoped they would make the Semis, though i think that could be as far as they go.

Sorry what I meant is when Loda joined, the whole team pretty much joined (considering Loda is a dota 1 legend). They had to get new synergy and that comes with time. Should've worded my last statement properly.

I still think it is weird that Loda was always so distant from his team during the pick / ban.

Maybe they feel more comfortable speaking SG than English? Loda may put in a few suggestions in English but he feels it's better to leave it to the team as they have worked together for a longer time etc?
Actually a good point. I hope they ask him that in an interview!

They were 1-1 with DK.
They lost 0-2 to LGD, then 0-2 again in the brackets.
SEA teams buckle under pressure, unfortunately. You look at Orange and Zenith's game in the Bo1s and it's easy to see the mistakes they're making. Zenith had the second game won vs. LGD and their loss there shook them to the core.
In this a lot comes down to mentality. In a 5v5 every player has to be at his best to win. One player not being on top of his game is able to cost you the entire match.
This is what happened to Zenith.

Any good games after IG vs Navi winners bracket ?

So I know it is only speculation but still raises the question about the teams morale.

Zenith lost because Purge found out about Loda's bald spot before the game. Brutal.
|
there was a really good comeback game with EHOME today from what I have been hearing, I missed most of the games today
anyone know where i can find this vod?
|
They answered it already.
Basically Loda liked to give his own suggestions because he used to be captain for a long time. So it agitated him a lot if his suggestion was rejected. The rest of Zenith feels like the main drafters should be hyhy and ice because they have known the rest of the team for much longer. So all of them decided that it's best that Loda stay out of the drafting phase to avoid conflicts and frustrations.
