Does anyone else enjoy watching the Russian streams sometimes, despite not speaking a word of it? :p
If I don't like how a game is being casted, or there is no English stream, I'll gladly tune into the Russians. It kind've reminds me of watching Starcraft casts in Korean, haha.

Yep, watched a few Russian games yesterday where there was no English commentary, and it was fun. Mainly because Russian is an awesome sounding language.
Who are your top five underperformers? I'd say, in no real order, Hao, Dendi, rOtk, Fear and Zenith. On the other hand, Ferrari, ChuaN, xiao8 (BEST CHINA SPECTER STILL) and all of coL have been really, really good.

It's hilarious when you understand bits of it, like idk who was casting but shadow shaman casted hex and the commentator was yelling "BAK BAK BAK" like a chicken in the middle of shoutcasting the team fight. Fucking hilarious

Dendi were really outclassed yesterday especially against orange. And it completely exposed him because it was mirror matchups too. Being destroyed by mushi as invoker against qop. And then actually losing as qop against invoker to yamateh. Won't call it underperforming to lose against Y-God and Mushi respectively though.

Its too bad Orange aren't winning more of their matches, would have loved to see them play Ygod with nevermore as a fun strat if they had a cushion.
Some nice videos where BBC (name of Chinese caster, not the TV network) interviews XiaoLuo, BurNing, Yao, Zhou, Hao among others at TI2. No English subtitles though.

its really because their strats/picks arent very good, and as a team its basically mushi+yamateh+good playing from xtinct saving the day for orange most of the time and this limits the teams lineup flexibility and consistency in play greatly.

I thought that fear, and especially Demon really stepped it up in their last 2 series today.

I didn't see those games. In the ones I watched yesterday, Fear was farming when he should have been in teamfights, like all the damn time. He played pretty similarly to an angry raging pub player.
I'm surprised Reddit didn't do what it does best and start mailing shit to sponsors. I guess the dota2 sub forum will know about that next time they feel like losing their shit over pointless stuff.
My understanding of Tobi's post is that he wasn't getting paid to do these games, while he will be getting paid for the seeded rounds.
It kind of reminds me of when Tasteless decided not to cast unless he had a proper contract, although that was for the benefit of other casters. But in both cases, it brings up the issue of whether casting esports events is an actual job that deserves compensation. Imagine if somebody told two professional football teams to play that they weren't being paid for or that they weren't contractually obligated to play. Or imagine if they told an announcer (like John Madden or Al Michaels or Mike Breen/Jeff van Gundy) of me sport that they weren't going to pay him to do some games before a tournament, but he should do it anyway. He probably won't do it, unless it's some potentially historic game that he doesn't want to miss.
For professional jobs, you only do it for free for your own reasons or because you want to. It's in the interest of other casters (except for maybe the Chinese ones) to cast for free, because it promotes their casting to a larger audience. I'm concluding that for Tobi (based on his comments and general reasoning), that he casts enough games that normal games won't promote him so much as good games.
In this case the negative press is going to hurt him more than casting dull games would be, so I'm guessing he'll start casting anyway. I'm neutral on it, but I'm guessing he sees casting these unpaid games as a hobby.
And I think Tobi's a contractor, not an employee. I can't see him getting fired for not casting games for which he's not getting paid, I'm sure that would be illegal.
