To be honest, the pitchforks are justified here. This is unacceptable behavior from the biggest Dota personality, the community needs to make him know we don't like this? What the fuck did you expect? That nobody says a thing?

ofc things are justified when its going on... anyone call off a witch hunt that is going on is obviously a witch and should be burnt, it has been like that since middle age. Fucking humanity is all about that.

What am i expect? at least a decent community like teamliquid could be a bit smarter and consider about it, not fucking jumping on karma train bandwagon other.

There are a lot of reasons going in to this witch hunt that should not be mentioned right now or it could literally kill the scene before it mature, mean while if not addressing them tobi will simply has to take everything on himself wrongfully. Things behind the scene, way people communicate... outsider pretty much know nothing and just pointing fingers.

Solely the fact that a caster like tobi, casting volunteer for this prelim round, for 12 hours straight itself deserves a fucking medal but shit like this. Hell i cant even just sit there and watch comfortably but he need to constantly screaming at the screen and at the end of the day became a bad guy. OH FUCK NO.

He got nothing? He's not casting from the goodness of his heart. He may not be getting paid as he said for the prelims, but it's certainly in his BEST interests to cast as much of TI2 as he can, obviously.

ya, i would love to get that volunteer no paid job, where i work 12 hours a day as hard as possible out of my best interest and got flame after my work shift done....

I think it is Valve false from the very first place not considering caster interest and just shove a schedule down their throat. Back in my day you have the right to refuse from doing your job(in this case volunteer job) if you feel like you cant do it at your best and protect your image, brand. Its like asking an actor to do a shitty movie just because he was in the previous series (Bourne anyone), he has all the rights to refuse doing it to protect his acting career even if his fans wanted him to.

Well he didn't refuse when he took that free plane ticket and hotel room, and he gets ad money and he's promoting himself. This is only a win win situation for him. He just feels he's not winning enough.

Glad that is sorted out. Happy that Tobi admitted ( albeit probably due to public and popular pressure) that his self confidence made him overlook why Valve did what they did.

Hope this doesn't leave any bitter taste in anyone's mouth. What's done is done.

From what I've heard so far, Tobi has somewhat improved in the last 2something years. So it's not all bad.

Dude... he's getting money from ads, people would have not watched said ads if Valve didn't organize and fund the event. Another thing is that casting The International is the best advertising you could ever ask for, as is being featured on dota2.com I don't understand why you're trying to make it sound like he's doing some kind of a charity. If anything this is the complete opposite.

Don't you get it? Shoutcasting is his work. He gets money for doing it. He wasn't fucking volunteering for anything, he was working for 12 hours, you idiot. Why should he get a medal for doing his job?

... i really have doubt this could actually reason with you but i will try.
So are you saying if i got paid to create a webpage for a company mas a programmer, i should also code the entire database system for the company for free? He WAS NOT GETTING PAID to do the prelim rounds as stated... so clearly its his job to do it for free for 12 hours straight. Especially he was enjoying the games so... hey guys, i dont know, lets shove down his throat the games he dislikes and torture him by making his volunteer experience a shitty one. And i dont know, lets flame him afterward just to make his life miserable for the fun of it.

Idiot? yeah. And medal for doing his job? did a solider deserve a medal if it was his fucking job to die for a country?

Lmao 20k viewers watching ads is not water bottle ad money. Some streamers make over 100k a year at over 10k viewers consistently.

Tobi did what is best for himself for sure. And in the realm of business, he will not be faulted. He knows his brand power and he knows his viewers ( a majority) are only interested in games that he cast and will follow him so that is why he thought he deserved to get the "important games"

But a lot of people are disappointed because in the spirit of what Valve has been doing and how Valve have made sure that all teams and players receive spotlights, Tobi were unwilling to share. For the good of all the casters and all the viewers, it was needed for Valve to allocate to ensure that every game has 1 English casters. And they try to give all pairs of casters important games to increase their exposure even for the less known casters.

For Tobi to go against that and said initially that he expects to cast high level and relevant games only goes against that spirit

And Dota community in general are very divided ( eu dota, sea dota, na dota, pinoy dota, russians). So if 99% disagree with the opinon of a fan favourite such as Tobi, then it tells something. Hell even M5 are unprofessional threads have more disagreements.

ad revenue for partners of streaming sites is very hefty amounts of money. even though the partners aren't legally allowed to disclose how much they make, many streamers and sources have hinted at the top streamers making upwards 100 grand a year.

"water bottle" money is more for the average streamer like the vast majority of the TL livestreams. But for people like Tobi, it's definitely not "water bottle" money.

All your Arguments about TOBI
Wow.

So Tobi gets a shit ton of Ad Revenue when he regularly has 10K+ viewers on his stream(Which isn't much According to you) and he gets invited to TI2 where he gets PAID by Valve and he still Flips his shit because he isn't getting the Best Matches to Cast(Which is also false)

I don't see any other casters crying about how they didn't get the Best matches when they casted games for as long as Tobi did.

Thy Shall Die Alone...or emm..something like that.

so now we can talk about dota again ^-^

Well, fair is fair - juxtaposed with LGD, TF isn't looking that prepared.

They also proceeded to stomp Tongfu 2-0 in that semifinal match, so he obviously wasn't all talk.

Tongfu has the ability to play to iG and LGD's caliber. At the beginning of the season in ACE DotA league in China they were virtually unstoppable.

According to Xiao8 in an interview before their semifinal match for ACE DotA though, he said that two certain players on Tongfu had been slacking off and not practicing that hard. "I won't name names, but you two know who you are."

Kabu and who else?

My guess was Hao, but honestly I have no clue.

Also worth noting is that when Chuan guest-commentated a Tongfu match for ACE, he effectively called Hao the weak link on Tongfu--saying that the other 4 players take control of the midgame, but as 1st position carry he doesn't play good safe DotA like he should and throws games that they should win because of it.

thats why he sucks on syllabear. he's like the opposite of burning

Air Force. He made a brief comeback last year - like two matches - but that's it. His old casts are impossible to find. :-(
