If anything, they should get a chance to either reload or remake again if the Dignitas/QPAD match is handled that way. in each case the team with no issues got the better end of the situation, which is fair in my book. al was ahead by a big margin and got the def win. (eg had issues) kp was ahead by a big margin and had to play with 4 players (kp had issues) dignitas was ahead by a small and the game is probably remade (dignitas had issues) It's been established that the issue has nothing to do with the teams though. The issue has become bigger; it's a league-wide issue. It's in control of "DDoS'ers". It doesn't matter who had the issues anymore; the game is ruined regardless of who gets DDoS'd. So to be completely fair, either dignitas would get the win (which is dumb in context of what's happened the last couple of days; not so dumb sounding back when it was just EG) or they both get to reload/remake (which is fairer, IMO). i have actually troubles to believe that its totaly out of the players reach to provide a sustainable and safe internet connections. we are in 2013 by now and secondary internet lines as well as backup pcs are not uncommon. if it isnt a problem on valves end (some major security leak), the players should be fine by using a totally different way to connect to the game. they are professional players after all, i'd suspect them to be prepared for things like this.

What? its like 4-6am for some people depending on their timezone. And they are probably playing from home. I don't know where you live in, but people don't have 2 internet connections at home here nor are there too many accessible places were you can just resume your dota2 game.

Yeah I bought the ticket myself, that's precisely why I'd rather they do it from replays so that I can still access them in-game, and not necessarily live, while other people can still watch a VOD of the game being casted from a replay. This is the easiest way to minimize delay on the tournament schedule for the Chinese organizers.

A backup PC will not help you in this kind of situation. Also, it's pretty far fetched to expect players to have backup internet lines just for this kind of situation. They might be professional players but by no means do they all have the ability to get something like that. In a lot of regions in the U.S., for example, there is only one good internet provider. There's no choice for a backup, and to get one would be expensive/cumbersome. Also, it would have to be a different method of delivery. If you have a cable service provider then the only way you can have a backup line is if you get DSL or something.

You seem to be overestimating the amount of resource the players have available to them. A backup PC serves no purpose whatsoever when your connection is down. A secondary connection isn't that useful anyway, it will just lead to another DDoS 15 minutes later since obviously the leak the guy is using is still there (which is probably skype to be honest, that or the current instability of server is creating a security hole of some sort). Now onto players protecting themselves. Both Aui and Fogged have tried stuff to help against it, to no avail. I can understand your point about how a team such as, say EG, should have taken mesures to protect against this, but I don't see how you can expect Kaipi to be protected for something like this.

On April 15 2013 23:04 cecek wrote: Anyone give me a short review of what happened today, please? I just now got on the Internet and missed everything. ![]() Kaipi vs Empire. Empire looked terrible, Kaipi looked great, but during the 2nd game, Kaipi's support player got DDoSed and wasn't able to get back in time. They proceeded to play 4v5 and win because Kaipi was so far ahead at that point Empire couldn't do anything. QPad vs Dignitas. Dignitas is up by 5k or so gold and a bit less in experience but as they got further ahead, they got hit offline also. G-1 after waiting and realizing this is becoming a huge issue and since Dignitas is ahead, postponed the game. Aui said on Twitter that as soon as G-1 admins said this, the DDoSed players internet returned. So in a nutshell, what happened yesterday with EG and VP happened again today with Kaipi and Dignitas. Despite that Kaipi got hit, they still won. Which props to them aside from EE's attitude.
