I been following MLG since it's Halo 2 days. The 2 things that MLG asks for the games they showcase is LAN support, as well as developer support. That is EXTREMELY important for them. They hate to rely on Internet.
I think DotA 2 is getting LAN support soon (someone find it, I know I saw it some where.) So will DotA 2 be picked up by MLG? I don't think so yet. They have LoL already and with how they do their games, having DotA 2 and LoL right next to each other might not be extremely wise considering the fans will be at each other's throats.
Sundance or the organizers probably realized how big DotA 2 is getting, with Koreans getting into it just now, how big this Alienware Cup ended up with viewer wise with just NaVi vs China. They are probably interested but I don't see them doing anything aside from Online Tournament. I know for certain they did a Showmatch awhile ago with EG vs Na'Vi. It went ok, but there was a lot of lag because of the oversea connection.
I don't see MLG getting DotA 2. I see them picking up another Alienware Cup tournament if possible, flying the Chinese teams over for it but for every tournament they organize? No.
MLG is just interested because of how big the viewer count was for something that wasn't The International. The amount of games which MLG currently run that have Lan support = 0? SC2 doesn't, LoL doesn't. CoD on console I don't know, I'd assume it doesn't. BO2 does. It's MLG's history of it. SC2 and LoL can be ignored mainly because of the game itself. Most games prior to SC2 and LoL, MLG prioritized LAN and Developer support. Virtually every PC multiplayer game before that time had Lan. Seriously now, Lan has nothing to do with it. MLG prioritizes money. They don't run any games currently which they haven't gotten direct funding from the developer for. MLG does, that's only have started when they got more and more attention. When MLG first started, it was small, Halo only event. That didn't change all the way up until half way into Halo 2 or so. That kept on going until Halo 3 when Sundance became CEO and they started expanding into other games by picking up LoL and SC2. MLG dropped Halo Reach when they realized the game had no support, and they weren't getting things they were asking for. They didn't pick up MW3 either because, no LAN, lack of support from IW. Nor did they pick up GoW 3. While GoW 3 had dev support, it was beaten out by another game (I don't remember what it was but it didn't go anywhere.) I don't like to sound cocky but I know MLG. Sundance had said it time and time again before, MLG looks for certain things in the games they want. This has obviously changed recently because of how big MLG had become, but the basics hasn't changed. Sundance will always be Sundance, he created MLG with a buddy and now he is CEO. Your views on how you run a business won't change so drastically because of it. I don't see them picking up DotA 2 because as someone said already, they keep talking about it but never do anything actually to show interest aside from some tweets here and there. I'm sorry but I don't care what MLG have done or what Sundance has said. Their actions say they don't care about Lan support. Them picking up a game that doesn't have Lan support doesn't mean that's the reason. Even if they say that's the reason, as long as they run multiple games without Lan support, then they don't care about it. This isn't the mid 2000's when Lan support was an expected feature in a multiplayer game. For me it would depend on the game in question. PC wise? Not having LAN like SC2 or LoL is ok. MLG hasn't picked up any console games that didn't have LAN. (That I know of.) All of their fighting games that was on PS3 had LAN (well ok it's fighters so -.-), All of their shooters had LAN. The only ones that didn't have been SC2 and LoL. (If I did miss out on another I apologize.) Edit: I can even list the games to compare if you want me to. List what for, I've already made my point. MLG don't care about Lan.
Pretty much all major titles which don't have Lan support that have an eSports scene. They've run competitions for.

Comparing 2 games recently to MLG's entire history up until 2012, and say they do not care about LAN is just absurd. Period. Having SC2 and LoL doesn't mean they stopped caring for LAN for games.
I can and will list games for you but I promised to stop because you just apparently have the notion that having 2 games basically erase MLG's history of asking what they have always asked for. And I can also tell you exactly what game had LAN and which ones didn't and you can compare the numbers for yourself.
But enough is enough, I'm not going to continue this conversation.

I am perfectly aware of this fact. I still think, that the actual relationship of the people who are directly involved is more important, than the so called "fans". As long Xiao8 says, it is okay, it was a joke, they do NOT blame Dendi, it should be enough for every one. Every action after that is imho kinda drama mongering and/or - let's real talk here - could be interpreted as a sign of sore losers, who can not stand the fact, that another tournament on chinese terrain was won by a western team.

Aparently it was.
Lmao fucking Xboct "mb it will teach him something"

Ok, it's about time to distant myself from the drama, but not without a last update.
As Seraphic previously mentioned, it was rumoured that ZhaoJie told Dendi to say what he said, but there was also a recent message from 430's ex apologizing for having taught Dendi that phrase. So mostly it looks like 430's ex taught Dendi with ZhaoJie's approval (or both of them were present when they taught Dendi).

The industry changed. MLG changed. They don't care about Lan. They only did when everyone did.
This whole argument was because I said Lan has nothing to do with MLG not picking up Dota. And you've already said it's not a problem for games like Lol and SC2.
I don't know what you're even arguing about anymore. That they cared about Lan 4 years ago? So what?

So all 3 of navi's wins were off (aggressive) trilanes? Winning aggressive trilanes often flat out wins the game, since they tend to have weaker safelaners. It's dangerous, but it takes away the late game from teams like usually tough to crack teams like LGD.
A lot of aggressive trilanes wins are decided by the draft. On the flip side, it still hasn't shown navi can win through safelaning->late game against teams like LGD/DK, and teams can always draft better.

Late game is not relevant if LGD cannot take the game late.

I'm still wondering if Valve will get some Korean casters. Or at least allow them to do it from GomTV studio or something. Teach them like how it is going on for the East and West teams. It'd be in the wee hours in KST though I watched TI2 last year in Korea (games starting around like 3 and ending around 7) and will try my best to watch as many as i can this time too! :D

Hmm, I started noticing that a lot of my SKT1 brothers from BW days are also NaVi fans.

Pretty much, if you've just joined the thread and wondering what the drama is about:
+ Show Spoiler + - final score
After LGD call GG, Dendi says "feng shou kuai le, zhao jie shi wo de" which translates to "Have fun breaking up, Sister Zhao is mine" (thanks to yellu for translating). Zhao was apparently the ex-girlfriend of Xiao8, who he broke up with
Xiao 8 responds with "shabi" (which is a VERY offensive way of saying idiot, it's pretty much calling someone a cunt afaik, because my mum kills me if I say it)
Some shit storm on TL, much more on the chinese Twitterverse aka QQ. Before Dendi is dragged onto the street and killed, Chuan steps in (as well as Zhou), and these images come up -
+ Show Spoiler + - chuan clarifying that Dendi learnt it from Zhao and didn't know what it meant (they were talking on QQ, which is effectively the multimessaging and social network that Chinese people use) - this image thanks to allen_ami
Zhou from team IG - http://t.qq.com/p/t/296267088048640 - 我只能说教你的那个人太贱了,还不告诉你什么意思。- I think the general gist of it is Dendi was a bit too naive and just simply believed what he read? He retweets Dendi's apology from earlier. Thanks to gLhF.Revere for this source.
+ Show Spoiler + - Dendi tweets saying that he didn't fully understand the implications of what was said, and apologises to Xiao8. This image once again thanks to allen_ami
Bulba steps in with a message from Sylar from LGD -

Xiao8 responds with this - confirming that either he's willing to accept Dendi's blunder, or they're actually having a fistfight 1v1 at TI3 (mid only)

Na'Vi post an official apology - which links to Dendi's apology on QQ. (Thanks to dogmode for linking this)

+ Show Spoiler +Listen to Ruru's wise words. Not explicitly sure what was being said in Chinese here (I can't read Chinese characters lol). Pretty much also includes a screencap of a conversation between a girl (someone said 430's ex, who was with Xiao8's ex at the time apparently) and Xboct. Thanks to Namunelbo and Jisall.
That's all I've pretty much read. Other comments include a debate on whether MLG will be sponsoring Dota 2 and a massive debate behind LAN support and other games, that Dendi was a notorious troll and BM'er earlier on, and other random things, such as the 36k people watching Lumi's rap.
Apologies for the terrible formating

Sigh... Now Sc2 has finally lost everything to dota 2: viewership numbers, amount of players, and drama...

the chinese sentence means : "i apology to dendi & xiao8 here, these sarcastic words for taught by me to dendi, I date them out for lunch/dinner, and just would like to have some jokes. Zhao Jie also agreed on this. Didn't realize that it could cause this much problem.. i am sorry"

Defending your culture by presenting it in a horrible light, stay classy Chinese fans. Right... Because the equivalent of twitter in China represents the whole country... Please, if you think harder I bet you could come up with better arguments. For reference see past sport events where the US faced Japan, you'll see the same kind of people but in different countries. If you're from the UK you'll just find the same when the Olympics happened.
I think the US/Japan stuff is disgusting too. How does the fact that other countries do it make it any better? Everybody with internet in China has QQ. A lot of the comments there are balanced and reasonable, but a similar number are ridiculous chauvinistic bullshit including death threats to Dendi and his family. If you ever find an example of similar behaviour from UK fans I will say 'stay classy UK fans' for you.
Cute XBOCT 'maybe it will teach him something'.
