Xiao8 as a mid player focuses on ganking mids (Beastmaster, NS, Nyx) that scale off if momentum isn't found early. True, he also plays DK but Yao has a better DK than Xiao8. Anyways, LGD's big problem this tournament has been their predictability and emphasis on 4p1. For some reason, Xioa8 et co refuse to adapt to the split push/mass farm metagame. They definatelly tried to play a split pushing game against TL. Maybe because it was forced upon them after the early game, but Xiao8 was no Bulldog.

I can feel their pain, but let's face it: it's the same pain that was running through DK for a half of year, and through iG after G-1. If you can't perfom, you lose. I am still amused LGD had the closest games with [A] even in this state, even with one strat. I still feel they would beat every team which is not DK / NaVi / Alliance in Bo3 at TI3, but maybe that's for better they go off now, because top 3 finisher is not an achievement anymore, like top 6 finisher wouldn't be for iG.

Which is their problem because they shouldn't draft themselves into that position. LGD doesn't work with Yao mid anymore. It worked at TI2 because the game was slower and allowed for a mid who didn't necessarily direct the tempo and made up for it with teamfight presence (e.g. Yao Invoker mid at TI2). But the game right now demands a mid who has control and directs the midgame game flow. People give LGD crap for playing 4-protects-1, but quite honestly THIS is why they don't have midgame control. Not because they're putting everything on Sylar because Sylar is playing carries with midgame presence and has excellent execution in midgame fights when he comes to them. It's because having Yao mid fundamentally puts the team on a defensive posture when Yao doesn't gank, doesn't apply pressure, and who is a player whose strength does not lie in his sense of game flow like Xiao8 is. LGD's strongest form this year came from Xiao8's mid when he played nyx and Kunkka i remember

I think Liquid could take Zenith easier than IG, but after this last match if they play in with that good of form, who knows. I've always liked Liquid especially when they picked up Korok, but after hearing about Ixmike's dad telling him to "pack his shit and come home" after going 7-7 in group stage, I want him (and Liquid) to go far just to stick it to his dad.

Xiao8 plays a great prophet. He definitely did poorly in the early game but did well enough to come back. LGD draft was fine, if it was DK playing it then they would have crushed Liquid. The biggest problem was Yao on the Mag, he just did not pull the trigger enough. Ultimately his lack of clutch RPs cost them the game in the end.

Did you miss DK's push strat? They're the only team that's picked Pugna to my knowledge.
