Morning. it's 3am, gonna "wake up" to work in 3:30hr That's going to be a hell of a fun day! Well it's going to be pretty normal if I won't sleep at all. I'll just finish work @ 4pm, take a 2-3 hours nap and go watch TI3 in the evening again. 3 juggs of coffee at work and I'm fine ;-)

seriously, games like this are gonna be a huge turnoff for potential players... there should be a mechanism to prevent games going this way. This is DotA. 80+ minute games has been a part of this game for as long as the game itself has existed. If you take that away, you won't have DotA anymore. Actually, Icefrog's tried for years to make games shorter and NOT have these games happen. Buyback changes? Staggered TP channel times? Smoke? All of those changes were geared toward shifting the game away from these long games. I wonder, don't you feel like Buyback changes actually made late game even more unstable? It's just games don't tend to go that far anymore. It makes games in the 40-60 minute range more likely to end immediately because you can't defend high ground with double/triple buyback from a single hero. Repeated buybacks only help the defending team because the attacking team can only TP back into the fight once anyway, barring a few specific heroes.
Don't you think limiting buyback will make the game overall more defensive, since teams will be pretty conservative with their buybacks rathern than taking an aggressive engage and relying on them?

Basically telling them they suck for trying their best to win more than a million is unprofessional as fuck. Show some manners.
No, it's unproffesional to walk circles in your own jungle for 30 minutes because you don't have a game plan. They didn't try their best, they tried nothing at all... Ayesee did fine.

Guys I actually fell asleep right at the end of game 1 and dozed off for 80 minutes of that game 2 and now I'm feeling great and refreshed best accidental power nap ever hoihoihoi

People want entire Dota changed because of one China vs China game. Let's put in refresh runes so the guy that doesn't get it won't get sad, remove denies, free tps and free courier at start of the game while we're at it.
Go back to whatever hole you crawled up from.

I know that's a rather meaningless discussion since buybacks would effect the whole game but I'm just curious. Maybe there's some middle ground with buybacks. Only if you for some reason starve the other team out and is able to have multiple buybacks while they don't. That actually promotes not attacking and leaving the other team stuck at their base, untill you outfarm they by a huge amount. BBs cost a lot at that point.

Eh that's not entirely true. It might make the more conservative in using them but the other team forcing a situation where they feel like they have to buyback is still something that occurs. After all there's no point in saving buyback if your just going to lose the game straight

Nope. If the players choose to play such a shit, defensive, uninteresting game they deserve to be exhausted for the third. It's their job and they seem under way more pressure than Western team does. You can't blame the players for this bad game, it's fully understandable. I'm sure if the prize pool was 20K wee would not have seen this. Doesn't matter. You shouldn't get any special consideration for choosing to ruin entertainment value. I don't care about the fact that they played such a shit game, I just don't think they deserve anything special for it. They played a 94 minute passive game, they deserve to be exhausted for their last game... They finish it in reasonable time, hey! You won't be exhausted. (Not that any of them necessarily are, but if they are, I simply don't care).
You can't expect players to do anything other then try their hardest to win if there is over a million dollars on the line, if the boring strats are their best bet at winning the money in a given situation then it's the game that's at fault rather then the players.

This is part of what I'm thinking. Late game is extremely volatile and not having a buyback cushion means teams just don't want to risk losing but at the same time in the past buybacks have caused more defensive nature games

That's at least a possible way to win though. What iG and DK were doing was just waiting for the other to mess up. Neither team had any real idea of how to go about winning.
