Dota looks like an incredible game right now no doubt but as a newcomer something like TL LGD was thousands of times more exciting than Alliance split push, and I'm new to the game. I guess that a League backgrounds does give me a bit more knowledge about tower pushing, map control, etc. but still. Consistent and highly strategic [A] might be but NaVi's, DK's, and iG's play seemed more skilled as far as players went. I saw some absolutely insane stuff from burning, dendi, ferrari, mushi, heck even Bulba. Now I know that it is a team game and that for the majority of the tournament alliance outdrafted everyone, but I never had the wow factor from Alliance outside the few Loda snipes even in the finals. And that does hurt the game to a degree. That said, I wont deny that when big plays are being made, and the threshold for those is imo much higher than in fcompetitive league or sc2, that DotA looks like the best game in the world.
Just because Alliance aren't as flashy as others doesn't mean in any way they are less skilled.

If you think that Navi throwed the game you need some more Dota 2 time Navi actually outplayed Alliance the whole game till the million dollar Dream Coil (aside from Dendi dying at Rosh). Then they loss whatever advantage they had from that moment. There was little chance Alliance would win if the Dream Coil didn't happen. But that's what Dota 2 is. One play could change everything. A team could be outplaying another team 90% of the time, but if the other 10% is a bigger play, then it's GG. Deal with it. Exacty, thats why i said that no one had a real advantage, you could say (in a really really bad way) that an advantage its real when you lose a team fight and that hardly matters to the match

Let's just say Na'vi got really fucking lucky to make it to the finals. I mean this with all respect, but I can't see it as any more than pure luck. But hey, luck plays a huge part in all tournaments. So long as Azarkon doesn't try to make 2.) or 3.) a point in arguing how West > East.
So Valve actually seriously ban Chen+Pudge fountain hooks in Finals?
Wow that is just sad for Tongfu.

Source? chinese caster stream. plus the fact that valve only showed one fountain hook in the highlights (and not even the aegis one, just a random one on mu) is fairly telling.

I doubt Valve would be commenting on it during the event, some lawyer would freak out about that.

I seriously cannot believe that people are saying Alliance played split push Dota when Alliance made a fucking miracle stand at Roshan fighting relentlessnessly to deny the Aegis to Dendi, who at that point was getting way out of control.

That was the Epeen winning out over the brain, horrible decisions in that game.

I think a more appropriate will be 'Outmaneuvered' rather than 'Outplayed'...

Alright so I'm hooked on watching this game now, Liquipedia shows nothing for upcoming Dota 2 events. About when should we get announcements on future competitions this year?

true. but i think for him and the rest of the navi fans (myself), we are extremely heavy hearted at the astonishing performance in game 5 which simply resulted in a defeat which felt uncontrollable.
tldr; grats alliance. if it was any other team except navi or liquid, i'd root for alliance.
my heart loves navi. my brain loves alliance. i go with my heart no matter what.
see navi in Ti4 grand finals though.

And Navi will probably go down in Dota history as the team that killed the fountain hook, if you can believe the rumours in this thread that Valve said it was a bug (and will probably be fixed soon /speculation)

Expect a huuuuge break. A lot of the teams will be recouping and stuff with little to no tournaments for a month or so. Also expect some teams to shuffle their lineups.

Sick shit. Final series wasnt that good at first but that final game.... WOW. Was worth it. 7 in the morning now, but I'm so awake now. Absolutely brilliant. Had kind of public viewing at home with some who were new to dota: they were so thrilled... just brilliant.

If you think that Navi throwed the game you need some more Dota 2 time Navi was way ahead, the gold graph is deceiving because alliance had used loads of buybacks. Alliance would NEVER split push the rax fast enough without S4's clutch ult, navi was not expecting his bb so they all tp'd together and bam. It was a mistake that cost the game, but again that's how games are won, the enemy makes mistakes and you kappatalize on it, the word ''throw'' is just stupid (unless it's EG) , the reason navi was ahead it's because alliance was also making mistakes and navi took advantage of it.
Eh, it's true that split push games are mostly won with mistakes. Not sure if that applies to everything. Had Na'Vi won, it would have been almost entirely on the back of a TA pick that broke S4's back for 20+ minutes and blew up Wisp/CK for the whole game, even post-big coil. Not any particular mistakes by Alliance.

I'm certainly a new DOTA fan.

I'm not saying it's as simple as "pick wisp, win". But it makes for very snowbally games. Even that last game, Alliance had an utterly terrible start and that's the main reason it became much closer.
It amplifies your mistakes so greatly, it just seems like a bad idea even over something like a dark seer or even the naga in a high pressure situation.
Na'Vi banned naga all 5 games. But I feel that naga was only as effective against Na'Vi in the UB final because Na'Vi was running oddball wisp strats (as opposed to standard and tested wisp strats). I'd have prefered if Na'Vi banned chen/wisp and Alliance banned naix/wisp.
NaVi probably has the best teamfight coordination on the world, the naga alone counters that.
