helps you farm and gives you additional dps without worrying with toggles mjol isnt a bad item on him. the tricky part is when to use rage. rage too early then you might be a squishy target if you cant pick off heroes and rage too late and you get chain stunned

Then don't armlet toggle. I understand where you're coming from since I had the same concern then. Generally sny is fine. I'm not a fan of mael first because it leaves you with a low HP pool. Although its sort of hypocritical for me to say this since I suggested SB, but at least SB gives you solo killing potential. Anyway you can't really go wrong with phase drums sny. Or go something like phase halberd mjolnir. Then add basher somewhere.

Lifestealer has built-in BKB/attack steroid, a slow and two ways to gain health (one with a nuke one default lifesteal on attacks). WK has lifesteal, stun and a built-in aegis. Sven has stun, cleave and two abilities that you can just press and start running at people with before hacking off their heads. All fairly straightforward, all have useful parts of the "carry kit" built into their character, all of them can nicely wreck teamfights with a couple of items. They don't have complicated micro and you don't actually HAVE to build armlet on any of them if you don't want to. Though armlet isn't really a scary item to worry about, just switch on before a fight and switch off after.

Is it pretty much granting your allies a free vanguard for 9s? Much better than free vanguard for 9s. The block is a 100% chance for 50 damage, even on ranged heroes. That translates to a ton of physical damage block depending on what you're up against. For illusion heroes, summons, and mapos, the block is kind of ridiculous since they depend on a large number of physical damage instances that independently are relatively weak. Up against single unit, large dps like a tiny, a drow or something similar, the damage block is significantly less noticeable, but hey, 50 damage an attack is still nothing to scoff at. If you can manage to take 5 hits from a drow, that's still 250 damage blocked. If you're a carry spectre and get crimson guard used on you and you take 10 attacks from a carry in those 9 seconds, that's 500 damage blocked.

The active is exceedingly powerful but its a 4k gold item and it falls off fairly rapidly so you have to want the raw HP and armor and block from it yourself and you have to have an extension plan for when CG stops being particularly relevant.

Buckler is quite a good item for cost (compare to Basi for heroes that don't have need for the mana regen), but was previously an 800 gold dead-end if you aren't making Mek with it. CG opens up the item for a lot of non-Mek heroes. The item itself as an end-product isn't really game-changing, but the fact that you can have Stout+Vit+Buckler (all individually high-effectiveness early fighting items) and have them combine into ONE item slot later is significant in and of itself.

I don't particularly see the cost-effective value of a 800g item that gives +2 armor as an active. The 5 armor for yourself is nice sure, but I'm not exactly jumping at the idea of buying a buckler just for a bit of armor. compare it to basi, its really efficient
