You can also use Omniknight's repel to isolate an enemy hero out of sleep if you cast it before song; though I'm not sure how often that's more useful than using repel on an ally.

Simple question about treads switching because I couldn’t find it: If you are playing a hero like AM or PL where you are switching every cast of Blink and dopple(60/50 mana), what is the net mana loss after the switch/cast?

You still lose 60/50 mana but you lose a smaller percentage of your total mana-pool by doing it so when you switch back you have overall saved a few percentages of mana.

How much you actually save depends on too many factors to be able to just give one answer, if you have 400 mana with non-int treads then you have 504 with int-treads and you as such only lose approximately 10% mana by using doppel with int treads compared to losing 12.5% without int treads.
So you saved 2.5% of your total mana pool by switching which with a 400 mana pool is about 10 mana. This means that after tread switching 5 times you've saved an entire doppel worth of mana.

Those numbers and percentages are specific to a mana pool of 400 without using int treads though, with a smaller or larger mana pool the numbers change, the smaller your mana pool is the more effecient using int treads for spells will be.
From the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to the ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!

I assumed it was more complicated since there was no "simple guide" on there on it. But the moral of the story is that switching pays more at lower mana pools and the more often you have to use the spell. So use its a lot on heroes like AM or PL.

while we're talking about tread cutting,

if you have soul ring + treads. you soul ring on strength and cut to int to cast

used to come up on broodmother a lot but i switched to phase boots..

Definitely. Somewhat uncommon boot to have with Soul Ring though.

afaik you don't get implicit night vision but you do reduce the enemies vision (including the NS) when you cast darkness. So generally you'd use it to impede nightstalker's night vision at night without extending the night where possible (although you could also save it to directly counter his darkness with your own, is pretty good.

That said, the aghs vision on nightstalker is also model implicit and I *think* isn't reduced by rubick-stolen darkness (unsure). soooo then it gets bad. And I don't think that rubick with aghs stealing darkness gains any particular upgrade so...

But, quite useful in the context of slark! Treads on int when you cast dark pact and burn the mana, switch to str before the health loss kicks in. Really helps your jungle.

Are you sure int-dark pact-agi-right clicks isn't more efficient? considering you're just going to regen all your hp anyway because you're slark.

You would switch to agi straight after the pact burn ends, so it's only 1-2 rightclicks on str.

Treads+SR is relevant on a lot of heroes, particularly storm.

Yeah, the proper sequence is int, dark pact, switch to str, self damage, switch to agi. Lots of fun. Good for anyone who wants to practice tread switching.

When you use Darkness as Rubick, this happens.



(He facepalms because it offers no benefit to you, only the enemy Night Stalker)

Although new Darkness with the reduced vision component is much better to steal. Previously it was completely worthless to steal.

this is mainly a question for yango, mechanics and wc3parity lord:

does the behavior where if the frontswing of an auto attack starts, the attack will complete no matter what, giving some melee units the illusion of having range when having slowed attack speed, come from wc3 dota? barnyyy called it a bug but i always assumed it was just behavior that enforced wc3parity.

No, it's a bug, plain and simple.

Autoattacks in Warcraft 3 don't "complete no matter what". They have a range buffer where if the unit remains within the range buffer, the attack will complete, but if the unit leaves the range buffer before the frontswing completes, the attack fails.

This behavior works normally in DotA 2 in most cases, it's just that slows can do weird things to a melee unit's range buffer for some reason, which causes the crazy autoattack range bug you're referring to. It's not War3 parity.

If I'm remembering correctly, wouldn't melee attacks sometime "miss" (the red miss would show up too) if the target moved out of range during the frontswing but the animation would complete?

i'm pretty sure that's just when the target leaves the range buffer. i don't know if the attack frontswing animation ends as soon as the target leaves the buffer, or if the frontswing will play out completely.

i mean i've seen some pretty long range right clicks in the past. im no expert on the mechanics and im definitely not a paritylord but i would imagine that the attack completes once it begins even if you're slowed by, say, untouchable?
