Shadow Striking Viper also means you fuck with your own ability to lasthit against Viper for the next 19s due to the Corrosive Skin slowing down your attack speed/animation. AND you can't use your Bottle either in that time cuz you're taking damage. If it's rank 1 Shadow Strike only, the relative damage of Corrosive Skin and Shadow Strike makes it not worth casting after level 3 or 5. If QoP is maxing Shadow Strike, a QoP that maxes Shadow Strike is more of a liability than a Viper that got Bottle. You should be able to bottle through levels 1 + 2 of corrosive skin, it doesn't deal 20 damage until level 3.

What changed to make these rules obsolete? Was it simply improvements in player skill/understanding of the game? Better balance between items? A change in balance philosophy? (a better question might be what made these rules necessary/seemingly necessary at the time)

Makes sense, I was only thinking in terms of the 5 heroes and it was hard to see why the rule would ever be needed. I'm more curious as to why tournaments felt the need to impose these rules *outside* of the game, especially when as far as I could tell there hadn't been a fundamental change that nerfed mass hex/book. However the courier abuse answer seems to explain this.

Attack speed slows from Poison Attack and Corrosive fuck up her lasthitting way more, especially since QoP actually has a below-average animation (her good projectile speed makes up for it in normal scenarios, but the animation itself is poor, meaning she's disproportionately affected by strong attack speed slows).

Never thought about the Shadow Strike vs Corrosive math that is interesting indeed. End of the day I guess she can just Scream down waves and bottle rune control, and use Blink to evade the Viper Strike. Attack animation is the opposite of Razor lol, his whip flies fast but delay on the attack landing QoP does a full body swing but damn that thing dagger flies faster than a Sniper bullet. If someone else on my team is nearby and pops drums charge for a total of +15% move speed, do I gain a total of 66 move speed (15% of all my move speed items) or just 45 move speed (15% of my base movement speed)? Please can someone answer this, its really a good question ![]()
