I don't think there is a better counter to TA than Viper, at least among traditional mids. As far as Viper goes, this has come up before and I can't remember recommendations for "beating" Viper in lane but the consensus seemed to be to pick a hero that can get OK farm and will just be better for your team than Viper is for his. I think that is reasonable. Winning your lane isn't necessary to be in a position to win the game. If it was I'd be about 500 MMR higher right now.

Her level 1-3 strength relies on the efficiency of Shadow Strike and her high base damage, but Nethertoxin prevents her from really getting a lasthit advantage, and Corrosive Skin does more damage back to you than you deal with Shadow Strike at all ranks (on top of basically removing solo-kill possibilities with the high magic resistance). If the Viper is greedy and doesn't level Corrosive enough, you can look for a kill if he plays greedy, but otherwise, you're forced to play pretty passively and use Bottle-Crow + Scream. And if the Viper applies pressure to your Bottle timing well, it's really hard for you to stabilize.

Honestly people should focus a bit less on countering mid heroes in lane though imo. The answer to "how to counter X" is pretty much always Viper/Razor/OD, but none of those three are statistically very good pub heroes. It's kinda hard to make an impact alone and you cant really snowball off your early farm advantage. Although they can be very effective with an organized team around them.

Thats honestly a small win right there, Viper can and wants to skip bottle in many other matchups. Bottle-QoP vs non-bottle-Viper should be totally fine if not even hard for Viper. I don't follow your logic, shadow strike does more damage to QoP than viper and I don't see how it forces viper to get a bottle. FWIW the dotametrics 1v1 chart (a bit dated now) had the matchup as 77-23 in viper's favor. + Show Spoiler + ![]()

If it's rank 1 Shadow Strike only, the relative damage of Corrosive Skin and Shadow Strike makes it not worth casting after level 3 or 5. If QoP is maxing Shadow Strike, a QoP that maxes Shadow Strike is more of a liability than a Viper that got Bottle.

If you rank up Blur a couple times with like 2 ranks in Dagger and Bottle, Viper basically stops being able to contest your farm because between Dagger, Stout, and evasion, he doesn't do enough damage to you.

If not, could it be a good response to lane-raping-viper as it is to lane-raping-silencer ? I'm pretty sure it does but I don't think it matters too much. IIRC corrosive doesn't cancel clarity so you can stand a safe distance away and last hit with arc lightning spam. Viper should never be able to get enough lane pressure to be able to tower dive you for a kill.

I can't confidently say it's an outright win, but I think she at least gets enough out of the lane to make it worth it considering how much stronger than Viper she becomes later. Thx. i can use that for more draftoptions.
