It is easy to cheer for a squad that is very successful. For me those who join a winning team and leave it when trouble come around are not true fans, just people who want to be on the winning side. Being a true fan includes supporting your team even if it might not look as strong as one would wish.
DOTA is very different in that regard compared to normal sports because teams change so much all the time, regularly switching out all five players, you are much more a fan of a player or a squad of players, not the organization. To me at least this squad is not liquid, not yet anyways.

Ok so you can say that about a true fan of a team, but then many would say being a true team isn't about pouching a team from another organisation. Just feel that this kind of morale high ground is gonna hit u in the hit you in the neck like a boomerang.
well - for me being a dota fan is defined by being a fan of a few of players i stick to cause i like their playstyle. as a team I like to cheer for teams that have a special character to their playstyle. In football the playstyle is pretty much untouched and core players not often rotate or getting at least replaced by players that offer the same character to the team.
somehow - this is not liquid for me. it s 5 new players and they dont have the team character and playstyle I like to watch. I m not sticking to a brand. For me it s very different to physical sports. My favorite players are now split up in an upcoming new team, og and eg. .. as an og fan... og without notail, ana and ceb.. common - thats not og than. keep in mind, old alliance would now be called og.. you could cheer for that?

These DreamLeague games are hurtful to watch. DS are really playing well, making Liquid look very bad.

I think it's really weird that people are suggesting that this Liquid stack who have mostly been together for like 2-3 years have this magical hidden potential that current Alliance can never achieve. We've probably already seen them reach their potential already and well, their results aren't the greatest.

at least some true words in here. To change something you need a new influence. It s just the old alliance squad that struggled all the time. A new sponsor doesn t change something. Maybe a set of new coaches does, role swaps or changing 1-2 players.

Yeah I agree. I honestly never got the hype around this roster.

And now, checking the results, DS beat NiP and are up 2-0 against Alliance, so they are definitely not playing like slouches ! Makes me feel a little less bad about yesterday's defeat. But still, I have not found anything really interesting in this Liquid team. Mostly... bland.

The weird thing for me is that i knew that LIquid were playing and i didn't bother to watch the games. I am not even watching the vods, and i really hope that thats because this was some kind of a practice tournament, not because my hearth is no longer Liquid.

For me it's the fact that they've been together for 2 years now and have consistently improved over that period of time. They picked up qojqva just before the TI8 qualifiers and ended up in 5th place. Then they started winning a lot of minor tournaments and qualifying for Majors. Got a direct invite to TI9 at the end. That's a huge step forward. Then at TI9 they were one point off making the upper bracket and were eliminated in a very tight Bo1, with a mispick. So yeah, I think it's correct to say that this team has huge potential. And there's nothing hidden about it.
That being said, DH Rotterdam wasn't a good performance from the team. Yes, DS almost won the entire thing but there were plenty of misplays from us and it didn't feel like we had full control of any series we played. Hopefully, we'll see better play from them in Hamburg. Still bevelie in this roster!

This new Liquid is disappointing.

You could see it like that. On the other hand a team that plays together for 2 years is expected to improve, it's just that most teams don't stay together for that long. And it took them that long to turn from a tier 3 team into a tier 2 team. I don't see their skill ceiling going much higher, sooner or later every team plateaus.

I don't think it is.
It's pretty much on par with my expectations at least.

Looked good for a few games against NiP. Now it's just embarassing against Gambit...

This Liquid seems overhyped. I don't believe they are bad but don't see them being tier 1 in the near future, possibly at all.

i dont think they are overhyped. nobody thinks they are good. the fight for direct invite will be hard

Of course a lot of people thought they were good, had a lot of potential. Liquid wouldn't pick them up if they didn't believe they could be at least top 8 material for TI10

Looking at these last few events, for a team that has been together for a while, this is abysmal. I can't even find a redeeming quality in these games, coordination, teamfight, farm, drafts, it's just... bad all-around. Finished the event with a 0-2, 23min loss against Quincy.

yeah the last two events were pretty goddamn awful unfortunately :/

#savingstrats obviously!
Now seriously - not like this fills me with optimisim, however who cares what happens at those tournaments, the major will be the first proper benchmark. Do well (or just OK) there and all (most) is forgotten. Fail and the flamers arise.
Also, who cares about the first major of the season, its all about TI :D

I have watched just about all the official games of this stack and they are honestly really good, they can beat t1 teams when they play to the best of their ability
