Liquid is a strong brand, I would not throw it away.
Drafter, Cap: Saksa 5th: Fishman Off: S4 Mid: Sumail / Stormstormer safe: tbd There is nothing wrong with the roster. These guys can play good dota when they pull themselves togheter . Seems like most people problem is that their hearth is with the Kuro stack, and now watching Liquid doesn't feel the same. Its acatually weird - i was pretty pissed @ Kuro @ first for jumping into the deep and forsing himself to think for so many things other than dota. But seems like that doesn't change my favourite team. And it looks like it is not an organisation but players. I still like Liquid, and there was nothing better than the Previous Roster + the org, now we will not have both togheter, we will be sad, but like it or not thats how it is.
Sure it s about the roster. They re not a tier 1 team cause they dont have the players for that caliber. I personally think searching for a different issue is pretty much nonsense. In the end no team can compensate the weakness of more than 2 players not being able to perform on a tier 1 level. Don t get me wrong, they re pretty good player - and each tier 2 team can be able to have a good run, but the difference between EG, OG, VG, Secret, LGD, Old-Liquid is huge... and it s a lot about individual skill. I am very special when it comes down to compare ladder to professional dota.. cause in my perspective the old MMR days showed real performance and all the tier 1 teams consist of 9,5k-10k mmr beasts and a veteran 4 or 5th.

They beat Alliance
EG dismantled them game 1
They still did well and got 900 points. They are improving in small steps, but they're already better than Alliance i would say.

Considering the time they have been playing together, beating a completely rebuilded/new stack after TI should be at least the target for them. Especially, having in mind that the opposing Team had a Captain which is making his first steps in drafting and playing in a support role.
Maybe not the run they were hoping for and the competition at Europe will be getting much higher with Secret and Kuro´s stack joining the action, but at least some valuable points. EG was just plain better today, starting from drafting to execution they were on level ahead.

Really? This is your take away from today? That is the most negative interpretation possible.
So since you provided the negative view on things, allow me to provide the positive: They beat Alliance, a team that has looked great lately and they did so handily. They beat EG in the group stage. This is the "potential" that has been mentioned so many times. When they click they can beat anyone, they just need to work on hitting that "click" consistently. If that first series of today had been against EG, I'm pretty sure we would've beaten them.
900 DPC points is nothing to scoff at. Last year it took 1140 to get a direct invite to TI. Super happy for the boys and what they've shown off this weekend.

I cant say why, but now that they are on TL i fell they should do better. Its strange, last year i would be happy for them, today i am disapointed. I guess, I have to high expectations on the Liquid tag.

Good start to the qualifier. Maybe not the strongest opponent but we looked good throughout both games, which I take as a good sign!
|
So yeah, really solid start to the qualifier. But this is all warmup for that game against Nigma tomorrow.
|
Yeah. ... did Valve plan this? The very last game - of group A: Liquid-Nigma - of group B: Secret-Alliance All the favorites!
|
Hell of an end to the group stage. Also, the way things are currently looking we could see Nigma vs. Secret in the first round of the playoffs!
|
they need to beat the ex-Liquid to become the actual Liquid (similar to how they beat Alliance so they're no longer ex-Alliance).
|
So what about the "new Liquid is trash and doesnt stand a chance vs Kuro stack"?

pretty sure i heard casters refer to liquid, nigma and even secret (when matu was tearing it up on ursa) as team liquid yesterday. Confusing times, lol.
