Every TL game these days is like watching a kitten stumble across the road where we just pray it makes it to the other side. When we win I feel relief. with FATA and Jerax we used to destroy teams, there was no fear of losing to tier 2 teams in a BO3. You say we can beat any team with a bit of luck, but we can also lose to any team. Dota 2 is a skill based game, you don't need luck if you're better than the opponent. TL is not lacking in individual skill even when you compare it to the dominant Liquid with Fata and Jerax. So why does the team's performances not add up to their MMR? The most obvious answer is because the pieces don't stack, and they haven't stacked for months. At some point you have to come the the conclusion that the pieces aren't coming together and that the pzuzle requires a different approach. That could be trough roleswaps, getting a sub to see what changes in the team dynamic or more radical, making roster changes. I'd love to see anything that indicates they're working hard to find a way to make the team gel. That said I still love Team Liquid and I only want to see them succeed, not disband. I only ask for Kuro to consider my faint heart when he crosses the road.
Well let's break it down
MC He's mostly solid, you could get someone with different hero pool who makes better plays, creates space But in terms of team cohesion/strategy not much would change GH Oh come on no question here Bulba was the most consistently solid player on the team, but didn't gel. We have a Jerax style playmaker who just needs more experience, letting him go would be retarded Kuro Kuro IS Liquid pretty much who else can we get. . . PPD?
So that leaves . . . Miracle and Matumba They struggled from day1 to gel OG, old liquid shown that one CSing TOP MMR star that will dominate when you play on him Combined with solid flexible, adaptable, enabling, playmaking yet still very solid second core that keeps reasonable farm throughout the game like Fata/N0tail
Is clearly the best way to go.
But...you'd be kicking one of your two biggest stars Hoping for a player that's super rare on the market (Don't think there's a question that N0tail is by far the best 1 player right now), or going back to rusty Fata . . .
Yeah no thanks, I want my team to stick together, excite us, win some stuff every now and then and have solid chance at TOP3 TI as a Liquid fan I'll be ecstatic like I am now - this team's damn awesome
|
I would argue that MC is being the least solid right now actually.
|
well yeah but it's not like that much will change strategically if you get a better player there

Im hoping that Team Liquid gets their direct invite for the next Epicenter Event.

I like how in the interview after the Kiev Major, Ana says when it becomes late game and during big team fights that he starts to captain the team. Then Fly just says when that happens he takes a back seat because he is "just a Dazzle." You can shit on his laning all you want, but it is no doubt that Ana knows how to think one step ahead of his opponents.
That kind of dynamic is what a championship team is made of. No idea how Liquid handles the shot calling ingame, but instead of switching players they can do some team building exercises.

I remember Matu saying the game at Starladder where they played rat Dota with BM, Morph, and Io that Gh and MC were making decisions and calling shots while Kuro was very quiet that game.

I wonder how vocal Matu and Miracle are. I hope they are not suffering the same issue Khezu was talking about in his after Kiev statement. Khezu basically said he was quick to just accept whatever his teammates said and did not voice his suggestion.
That is probably the hardest thing about dota. It is doubtful everyone is right 100% of the time and it is scary to take responsibility for a loss. For most players it's easier to just sit back and do their jobs. Actually shotcalling and theorycrafting is a huge burden especially if you start to make mistakes.
It looks kind of crazy for Liquid to reshuffle. It isn't like they are lacking talent. Simply bewildering how they aren't finding success with this roster.

Losing Jerax was not. It's a change for the worse. Simply put, Liquid's current roster is worse than the one with Jerax. Matu/Miracle synergy is just fine, but Jerax's shoes are still unfilled. It's really not a hard one to figure out. The team with Jerax on it wins tournaments.

Trying to point names is just a thoughtless try to figure the team's problem. Imo only them have an idea of what's not working and i'm sure they'll figure it out. Even if they need to shuffle to fix the said issue.
I'm certain that everyone agrees Liquid has incredible talent and perhaps they just need to keep things simple.

Why are we not attending The Summit? I mean there is still two invite slots, but those are reserved for EG and OG. Maybe there is a chance we get it if, but that's if one of them decides not to attend but i doubt that someone will discard a direct invite for a 3-4 day lan that lets you scrim with top teams.

I think cause it's really closed to Epicenter ? I'm not sure. I think we should at least attend 2 out of 3 Epicenter, The Summit or Manila Master though.
