I didnt know they only play together since 5 days, no wonder they had problems 2 days ago. This already looked much better, game 2 was really fun to watch. Go liquid!

Nah, this is probably the quietest time of the year as far as DOTA goes, so this is exactly the time to a break, relax and recharge your batteries. Because to be honest, the top teams do not care much about how the Dream League goes... you can see that from how many top teams withdrew just to have time to bootcamp for the Boston Major. Travelling around all year playing Dota is probably damn stressful (thats why FATA- said he needed a break), so I think the team taking it easy right now is probably the best thing they can do.

Yeah and Bulba spamming supports in pub finally too! Looks like they are really just in the very beginnings - last time around it also took about half a year for them to start working out. The longer break means they will probably be in a disadvantage for Boston but hey - we know Liquid is the best organisation to be in if you're committed for a longer term as the management will support you.

Pretty sure they were dominant right off the bat last year, they only faltered in key qualifier games (notably vs Alliance). But overall they had an insane winrate.

I'm still not too optimistic about the current roster, I suspect support play issues is going to be a recurring theme.

There was 3 qualifiers right after TI:

Vega won ESL
Monkey business(OG) won MLG
5jungz(liquid) won a tournament in China

And they lost the major qualifier

They were not that hot, they started to shine after the first major

Liquid struggled a lot early on. Remember that they were eliminated by Alliance in the Frankfurt Major qualifiers, who went on to only win a single game (Against C9) at the main event. They looked pretty good at the Nanyang main event, but did not start to look like a great team until they beat OG at the Defense 3 months after the team's formation.
Even in December, they were struggling against teams like CIS-R and Vega, (http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/StarLadder/i-League_StarSeries/Season_1/Europe_and_CIS#Results ), and in January, they were losing to Power Rangers, HellRaisers, RoX, etc. (http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/Dota_Pit_League/Season_4/European_Qualifiers/Group_A )

So I wouldn't worry about the team just yet.

People just remembered their major losses early on, which were certainly a big deal (ending up failing to qualify for those early events).

But overall, in those first few months, the team was definitely statistically dominant. In the period before being signed by liquid, the team had a 76% winrate in maps, going 7-2-3 (w-t-l) in series, according to dotabuff, or 15-2-2 according to ggnet (79% winrate). The team ended their stint as 5Jungz on a 9 match win streak.

Sure, they werent always playing the best of the best, but who were the best of the best at that time? OG/Mb? (alliance sucked, cis was in disarray, secret was dodging all events unless invited) In that period, and early TL period, they traded matches with OG all the time (just seemed to lose the more important ones..)

Yeah, but they've been playing together as 5jungs for a while. Playing for 5 days is like 10-15 games in pubs and some scrims thats not enough.
Also they only really played bad in game 1 vs VP. Then game 2 VP played out of their minds, flawless dota. Add some questionable positioning and plays from Liquid, and you get yourself a stomp.
Now yesterday vs Vega, game 1 they played OK, but FN played the best Jug game i've seen in a long time. Not to mention some key plays - killing MC and claiming the Gem, when his team was dead and the rosh fight were game changing.

We can all flame and blame Bulba for everything, but that mid Rubick strategy didn't come from Kuro for sure ( yeah Miracle probably always wants to play Rubick, but picking random Rubick mid doesn't work for years now, it needs the correct draft).
The guy may not be the most experienced support player, but he understands the game very well, and can bring some awesome and unexpected for the opponents ideas to the table ( Even EE said in his blog that after Bulba joined Secret he brought some very nice strategies and ideas with him and everyone were hyped despite the other problems), add one of the best captains in the world, two 9k MMR players and an awesome offlaner to the equation and you get yourself one damn good team.
All they need is time. By the time the Major arrives everyone will be scared of TL, mark my words!

Im pretty sure they will be scary again. The games against vp and vega were like day and night. And they improved like that in only two days. Give them some weeks, and im pretty sure they will own a lot of teams. Take miracle for example, in og, most of the time he had to carry the team, because notail is just not a good carry. Now he has a world class carry on his side, the mighty matumbaman. Also bulba may not be as skilled as jerax, but i have to say his sd yesterday was pretty flawless. He can help kuro with drafting, strats, and in game leading. Im kind of optimistic right now, we will see what happens;)

Kuro was such an awesome drafter, he also tried a lot of new things like the clockwerk 4th. He needs to find back, I dont like their draft ideas in this patch.

Bulba is fine, don't be silly. He's a veteran pro with 8k mmr, it's not like he's a 5k trash player

Watching the first episode of True Sight yesterday and listening to Jimmy's harsh words to his team saying something like:
We are not the best skilled team, none of us are, we are good, but not the best in raw skill.

Made me think about liquid's roster. This team along with EG, has the biggest potential to be the best. Just give them time, our boys are 1 step ahead of almost everyone in the scene.

I thought half of Liquid's problems early on last year was Kuro drafting dumb 4 position heroes?

Guys, we're all Liquid fans here! Trust in K-god, we may not have insider knowledge about the going-abouts of the team, but as fans, we have to stay optimistic about Liquid. I have been a Liquid fan since the first team, the one with TC and FLUFF. The lowest point in the team was TI4 IMO, they had to win the NA qualifier to get into TI and they lost and got into wildcards, but in Wildcards, they never gave up and in the end, they got a top 10 in Ti at their lowest. This roster is obviously an improvement of the TI4 roster, and the last Liquid was the best so far.

So? I think that they can go further then the last Liquid, it's only their first 4 matches and their first win was with a Mid rubick, I think we are putting too much pressure on a team that wants to have fun and honestly, I watch dota to have a great time and I think a team that laughs together and sticks together and experiments together will get far together, and I see that in this current Liquid.

I have high hopes for their future :D
