Empire and VP haven't changed that many players, and their play hasn't gotten that much better in the games we've seen so far. And the benchmark is still teams like EG and Newbee who barely touched their rosters. I mean, sure, if you really need that safety blanket of reassurance, we can pretend that Empire and VP magically became world-class tournament champions, and that's the only reason Team Tinker lost...but really? Empire was never a tier-3 team to begin with and were considered a tier-1 worthy opponents before TI4. New VP is basically old ROX+God+1 which is a tremendous upgrade over their old roster. Newbee lost their captain, drafter and if Banana decides to retire arguably best position 4 support in China on top of that, so you can't conclude anything about Eastern dota yet. TT is tier-2 team for now, people who expect more from them right from the get go are silly, imo.
Empire definitely wasn't Tier 1 going into TI4. During a few months in Spring, yes. But not in the months proceeding. Their 13th-14th place finish at TI4 wasn't that surprising for many people. Sure, never a Tier 3 team, but it's not like they're the only team Team Tinker lost to.
VP, guess I'd mixed up Rox.Kis' lineup with their old one. So...they have changed some players out. But it's not like Rox.Kis was very good before they disbanded either. And again, it's not like their recent games have shown anything amazing.
Newbee, sure, maybe they will drop off considerably. But it doesn't change the fact that every other team is aiming to compete with those top tier teams. The top tier may shuffle around frequently, but teams only get their with consistently strong performance...not by hoping that all of the competition gets weaker.
Right now I'd call TT a tier 3 team on performance alone. Low sample size, but their only wins are against no-names and PR...who, admittedly, can have surprise showings, but are still a bottom ranking team. You only get the placement you earn, and TT hasn't shown any results worth noting.
Given time they might become a Tier 2 team and sit comfortably in the middle-of-the-pack during round robins. But if you're going to call them a good team because of all the things they could do to get better, then the same should be said about everyone else.

A lot of people on here are liquid fans but where else would you go to talk about dota seriously? There are many people here with a deep knowledge of the game if you pay attention and look for them. Add to the fact that you don't get the reddit madness and the joinDota flame wars it's one of the best options out there. I'm curious if you feel there is somewhere better?

Honestly, discussion quality isn't really a big deal for me. I use this site mostly for the match ticker and because of tl.net. Haven't looked for better post quality anywhere else, so I couldn't tell you.
But I do know that the active user count here hasn't changed very much, which means its still basically the same tl.net user-base that was here before the domain split. Which basically means this site is just as irrelevant to the DotA2 scene as it was before.

I'm honestly curious about this. I've stuck to LD mostly because of history with BW, and the community overall doesn't seem to be as retarded as the reddit or jD communities.... but it feels fairly small here.
Outside of those two I can only think of playdota and the Chinese community sites, neither of which I'm terribly familiar with.

Kinda my point I guess. I'd rather have the smaller community and simply learn who to ignore and who knows their shit than go to joinDota or reddit and basically deal with twitch chat... The mods on here are generally pretty fair and I think once they get some way of showing who they are some of these recent flame wars that sprang up will calm down.

I didn't mean Reddit only, I meant as the Dota 2 community that follows the pro scene, like joindota, gosugamers, etc. And I still believe if FATA or any other mid player were on that team all those sites would be tearing Tinker apart right now, but obviously the huge fanboy support for singsing allows the team to be free from a large amount of criticism.

T.Tinker has gotten plenty of criticism, a lot of it justified. I think once they get the roles figured out and focus on drafting a solid laning stage they can let the skills show a bit more. Their plays with tiny centaur were pretty disgusting in MSI

tbh I just wished Pajkatt would be in a stable, top 5 roster and organisation. He's been everywhere since his half-year stint with CLG, and LGD int was extremely underwhelming. He's my favourite western carry since Silent went.....silent

I really wish Qwoik-fa (check spelling) would embrace his inner old mcDonald and become a true 1 position.
old padge-kat (check spelling) just never seems to keep up the pace of farm throught the mid-late game and i think (though my thoughts are my own and probably wrong) would make a pretty good offlaner.

I really don't agree with putting pre-TI4 Empire so low. In my compendium, I actually had them in the top six, ahead of even NaVi (who, ironically, beat them in the D2L Western Challenge leading up to TI.)
They beat Fnatic right during their hot streak with XCalibur to claim D2CL season 3 and took 3rd behind C9 and [A] in DreamLeague in addition to their 4th place finish for D2L West behind EG/NaVi/Fnatic. It may not be global T1, but it's definitely upper crust in EU.
That being said, I was shocked to see how badly they shit the bed in round robin along with Alliance, who was fresh off of a DreamLeague championship.
