I don't think that game is going anywhere, but HotS will capture some new people coming into the genre for sure. I don't see how it's supposed to be a "middle ground" when a lot of features feel like they aim to be even more casual than LoL.
It seems to be aimed in the same direction as HotS, and HotS is going to get a lot better advertisement/visibility because it's Blizzard.

strife is like scrolls of mojang. Its appealing and target a good market but they will be crushed as Blizzard is working on a very similar title that gona swoop their market share. people already forming teams with dedicated ban/pick websites for scriming in heroes of the storm. Tournament already going up left and right with casters and personalities being carried over from sc2.

People are actually building teams for Hots? That feels sad.

People hope it blows up as an esports and that they can become a big team there, if you're one of the first and become a popular streamer/end up on one of the best teams you can make big bucks(assuming it blows up in popularity). That's how i see the fact that people are this eager to play it competitively anyway.

do people actually enjoy hots? ever since they revealed their bullshit progression update i lost all interest in the game.

Inhouse Cant seem to get in.

The trophy gallery now awards trophies for scores in the Last Hit Practice training. The trophy upgrades for every 15 last hits... up to 80 (in 10 minutes). I think it's possible to exceed 100 last hits via flash farming, but there's no trophy for doing so.

A lot of them actually have interesting actives and stuff. You also have a courier. On the other hand, lasthitting is way simplified and you can't deny. It's definitely closer to LoL than to DotA. In some aspects it's a simplified LoL, in some aspects it's a bit like DotA, imo.
HotS is simplified LoL all the way, and I think it's a smarter move, there's definitely more open market for "more casual LoL" than "kind of like LoL, kind of like DotA".
Also, really good comparison to Scrolls/Hearthstone. That's really spot on.

You can get it easy by creepskipping with axe/darkseer and farming the enemy pull camp at the same time.
e: double posted. don't even care.

HotS seems like a solid game for all of the foreigner sc2 pros who weren't good enough to eek out a living with it.
especially cause sc2 is dead

especially cause sc2 is dead SC2 will live until Blizzard realizes that pumping hundred of thousands of dollars is in no way going to return itself. And then when they stop with WCS it will die.

It's gonna go like this: Blizzard is gonna release HotS, let it sit for a year, let the community run some tournaments and whatever. Then they're going to announce a WCS equivalent for HotS, give the SC2 people a year to jump the sinking ship, after one season of concurrent WCS and HotS series they discontinue WCS and SC2 officially becomes a ded gaem. Which is honestly pretty generous for the SC2 guys, because it;s gonna take Blizzard quite a while until they fully launch HotS probably.

What a fucking sad fate for SC2. I loved that game for most of WoL.
Does it actually just get money pumped into it, or is there still significant third-party support?
