I mean people say and most seem to believe that subs are 'consistent income'. But for example Dansgaming was saying he lost 400 subs after not streaming during Pax (like 4 days). And most people just sub for one month, basically just a 2.50 donation. Even if you look at waga's top donations list. The top 5 donators account for like 8k, considering he just hit 1k subs and has for the most part been around or under 500, those 5 people account for several months of all subscription income. And that's not counting the enormous mass of $1-10 donations. Which is worrying to me, because I find all streams turning into myfreecams constantly talking about people giving you money isn't what I'm there to watch. Obviously good that they are earning money, but some people need to learn to actually be providing quality content at the same time. | ||

I don't see them as any different than street performers, except that they have to periodically tell their viewers how to send in that money. And as I said in the other thread, it is super nice that Dota fans support the non-pro streamer along with the pros. It healthy for everyone who appreciates the game for both fun and high level play. | ||

Which is what a street performer does by giving you eye contact and not stopping to play. And that is not what a streamer does when they read idiotic messages for the entire cast. Some people do this well. Some people don't. | ||
