Tofu is the singapore tofu.

Singsing was playing with someone named Banstatus the other day who had 80% Lion games in like 40 pages or something.

I've never tried DOTA since it was before my time :O but I have played LoL. Whats the difference between the two? And what do you think is better?

I hope you guys didn't miss the pub games with Toby, Pajkatt and Puppey! Obv they got teamed up with a russian who didn't know it was them (all had weird nicks) and he tried to captain the team and called Puppey a retard :D

You're asking dota players what they like more, the game they love or the game they hate?

In Dota certian key factors create a deeper strategic environment.
You cannot teleport to your base for free.
Not every hero can "blink" into or out of combat.
Mana pools are significantly smaller.
Spellcasters are generally more powerful at the beginning of the game and less powerful at the end of the game.
You have the ability to kill your own "minions" (creeps), and doing so takes some experience away from your opponents. You can also kill your own "turrets" (towers) so that your opponents get less gold.
Only one player can play one "champion" (hero). So both teams can't have an Anti-Mage.
These are some of the biggest differences off the top of my head. If you like LoL, play LoL - the vast majority of Dota players will say that Dota is better, for obvious reasons (its the game they play).

The main differences IMO are:
Ability to deny creeps and pull neutrals to draw the lane back to your tower.
Map is very different, has long & short / easy & hard lanes. There is no brush like in lol, the height changes and line of sight while in the jungle are very different to the way lol works. Also towers are much weaker.
Disables, and abilities in general are more powerful in dota. Eg look at ravage, black hole, fissure. Nothing like that exists in lol.
Laning phase has much more variation, with trilanes especially something you never see in lol.

So I finally got the beta, and I can't say I'm digging the game. I played a lot of the original DotA when it was popular, enjoyed it quite a bit. It's been a while, so I don't remember how to play properly (a lot of LoL can do that), but my issue here really is the game is almost impressively ugly. It feels choppy, the interface looks very cheaply done, the hero models don't stand out. I just can't do this, and I'm kind of sad to say so.
I miss denying creeps =[

I miss denying creeps =[ What are you talking about? The UI is amazing, art style is perfectly fine and you can deny creeps too.

lol i know you can deny, im just saying i'm going to miss it because i can't take the game seriously.
when does it officially release, by the way?
|
No release date is set. Valve time and all that. Personally, I didn't find the switch from LoL very difficult, I think DOTA2 feels much less "choppy" then LoL. But whatever floats your boat man

you play (and i assume enjoy) lol and call dota 2 ugly? O_O
LoL is like a little kids cartoon game full of awful looking sprites shooting everywhich way and the champion renders in game.. oh my...
I get LoL can be fun, I get people like it, but the game looks like shit.

I am surprised by DotA 2. Like the glow effects on heroes, how Sb makes other units glimmer. Even the subtle snake and frog on the map.
The item Ui does take some getting use to. I occasionally forget where certain items are. But the Ui itself is very nice. I will admit to hating generalizations like, interface looks very cheaply done and that the hero models do not stand out. That is so vague, I need specifics lol.

Hah, my apologies for bringing this up then. I suppose community fervor is fairly the same across all MOBA games, I should of expected it.
I'll continue to give the game a shot, I suppose.

when does it officially release, by the way? This is funny because 99% of DotA fans think the same about a certain other game*. No offence intended.

Just wanted to make sure of the rules. Since I obviously forgot them and I guess it needs reminding. Rule number two:
Do not discuss LoL or HoN in this thread. Also, please refrain from using the vague term MOBA.
Although I have no authority here, I do suggest changing the topic of potential warnings may engulf this thread.

Dark seer shield on riki and dark seer is OP. It takes a lot longer to get used to than LoL.

Chuan isn't Chu, Chu went to HoN where he was recognized as one of the best players, then went to LoL, then came back to HoN, did well again, and then Dota2 came out and he went back to LoL and he is on TSM now.
