He decided to change the game mechanics because quite frankly almost everything about the 3-1-0 meta was garbage. This is actually right in line with everything that I've seen and makes perfect sense. He's willing to change how the game is played. This is anything but a bad thing. Good players will adapt, bad players will not. Please though, continue to talk about how this patch is for casuals. I'm sure the game will be so much easier now for everyone. I will be easier for me to enjoy myself because it is so fucking crazy. Also, do casuals play dota? Aren't we stretching the definition of the word a bit when we start to include people who willing enter the harsh world of Dota 2?

Wow
In summary, this patch kills alliance play style.
The gpm increase to 1 gold per 0.6s is also double edge. It means more gold earlier, which makes early attacks more viable but it also makes prolonging the game and picking defensive lineups more viable as well...
It seems like this patch is heavily influenced by the TI3 results... which makes perfect sense. I think all in all, good changes and more competition in dota.

I don't know why people are so mad, it's really hard to foresee how the meta will shift from now. If it's for the better, we win, if it sux, we'll wait next patch. 3 1 0 was a bit dumb, good way to get rid of it.

So how long until they update ? Feels meaningless to play normal dota games now that everything will change.

In my opinion, Valve/IceFrog are trying to make the game more aggressive so the game can reach a higher population, and to be fair 40-50 minutes of split pushing arent the most exciting thing ever, untill the last moments where you have the mid/late items
And dont get me wrong you need a lot of skills to split push and i love seeing it, but at the end...more blood and more aggressive meta would make the game more massive from a viewer/consumer point of view
Do i agree with it ? Mmm, not really... Do i think its a smart move ? Yes, in my opinion... it is

Trilanes got hit hard. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I'm not saying the patch is for casuals, I'm saying the ways they use seem familiar to me. Coming from other games where patches were much more common, sudden and aggressive changes were almost always identified as attempts to open up the game for a wider audience, hence the reference. Without nitpicking every single change that I dislike, changing everything at once just sucks (MORE RNG (mariner mentioned TA being god tier now for pit traps)). Also, we'll see about 2-1-2. I strongly prefer 3-1-1 and 3-1-0 myself, so I'm curious to see how much better are the alternatives.

THE COMMUNITY WANTED A PATCH.
ICEFROG GAVE THEM A PATCH.
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I bet icefrog is somewhere in Valve HQ sipping on his tea, reading forum posts, with a grin on his face. #what #a #baller

This is a ton of changes, guess we'll have to see how it plays out over the coming weeks.

This will make some very interesting changes. Very curious about pro-games for a while after that hit the live servers.

Pubs will be hardcore as well. SO many broken things to try. It's a game to find out which ones are the most broken. Good grief.
