I believe you just throw your flag in the opposite direction. This causes your character to turn that way and the follower will naturally move behind your character. | ||

Just having your character turn around should have your follower switch locations so that they are in between you and the invisible snakes (unless your follower is already attacking something). Snakes will usually reveal themselves when they are in range of a target but occasionally they will be stubborn and ignore the follower. | ||
