i'm not that fully happy with the patch. sure i can now farm act 2 but man those repair costs. it's like i'm breaking even or just earning a few thousand gold when i farm. i'm not sure if it's just me or is there now a prevalence of illusionist elites? i'm having a hard time with illusionists with either nightmare or knockback and has a mortar affix. any advise what skill build or tactic should i use in the said scenario? i'm running a shield with 8k armor (with ench buff and hard target), 740 resists with one with everything, 12k dps. i have breath of heaven with bonus damage, blinding flash with bonus damage, air ally and serenity with extended invulnerability. i also use FoThunderclap as my spirit generator. am I doing something wrong having problems with those kinds of elites or I'm just undergeared?

799 resist to all ~7800 armor w/ shield ~6400 without shield 1473 LoH 33k-34kHP 12.7K DPS when in combat and in tnaking gear 17.5k DPS when in combat and in DPS gear (still working on more DPS gear). I lose about 100 res, 1500 armor and my Hp plummets to 26k or 27k. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#WYXgik!XUY!ZabYba - is my main build, I use this for everything when solo. I couldn't kill siegebreaker fast enough so I switched out some gear. I switched out 3-4 pieces of armor and my shield for dualwield. Both weapons are about 760-790DPS (dagger and fist). 1.86AS when dual wielding. With that I was able to down him!

Just a few minutes ago I took him down on my 2nd try (misclick on 1st attempt) so I may be able to help.

So many options as a monk though :O also at 60 is it most common to use a shield? or dual/2h You have you tanky monk, and your dps monk. Use varies by how geared you are. Less gear = Tanky Monk, Overgear = DPS monk. The monk has many viable builds granted you have the gear to support it. This is the build i'm using to farm act 2 inferno atm: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#bdiXQg!ZUY!ZbbbcY With 7k armor buffed and 550 resist all with 11k dps and 20k hp. I never die and can take on two elite mobs at a time without dying. I play single player tho with a templar follower skilled as follows: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/follower#0111!!1010 Alot of people use enchantress so i included what i was assume to be the enchant build. alot of monks in this thread have reached act 3 and 4 inferno so they can give you some more gear/build suggestions. I know Fists of Thunder runed with thunderclap is popular. I know slayer uses that, I'm more defensive specc'd until i get LoH, as at the moment i have only 182, so i make up for it with my passive life regen.

I'll do it later, my gear is definately not super good. Managed to get him down yesterday with 3 other guys who dealed the damage for me, but being able to solo him would still be cool ![]()

"Damage you deal reduces enemy damage by 25% for 2.5 seconds." Huh? Is it every enemy you hit gets their damage reduced? So AoE stuff is good with it?

The way i assumed it worked was when enemies were hit they dealt 75% dmg instead of 100%.

Anyone confirm that? And what resistance are you guys stacking? I guess it makes sense to just stack one so it's effectively "cheaper and easier" to get? Why not just get All Resistance gear and save that passive slot for something else?

You get gear with your preferred resis AND all resis. So a +40 fire resis, +40 all resis piece is effectively +80 all resis.

I couldn't really care less about the melee mobs, anything that hits hard can be avoided and deadly reach kiting destroys most melee mobs damage.

Resolve is still necessary when you run FoT/sweeping winds and take a lot of hits. Even if you drop resolve, there's really nothing else to get besides transcendence, which is also pretty insignificant.
