Do you think dual wield is an option now? my stats + Show Spoiler +yes i could see myself losing the shield and still surviving easily, the damage from fire chains / arcane sentries / plague are greatly reduced to the point where it is now possible to just tank them instead of kiting. i dropped deadly reach (imo was compulsory before 1.03) for sweeping wind now for the additional dps. no reason to use evasion mantra with those stats even pre-patch imo. i have similar stats but way less block and loh. overawe ftw or is the attack speed nerf that bad?

Oh my, that is an incredible amount of life on hit. You could be over 2500 dual wielding, which should work out beautifully.
I still think IAS is important, I still want to get to at least 2 attacks/sec (obviously a dagger with IAS on it is important for this), otherwise stacking incredible amounts of loh like wwiv is the way to go imo.

Hi guys,
I'm currently leveling a monk in HardCore and I'm not really sure what to use as my main skill: I can't really decide between Crippling Wave with Concussion, Fists of Thunder with Lightning Flash and Way of the Hundred Fists (not sure about the rune either...). I'm playing with Mystic Ally, 4 defensive skills and a shield.
Is there a clear answer on which one is better or is it more about personal preferences / gameplay style? Is the patch going to change anything about that? Keeping in mind I'm not max yet and my gear is obviously pretty bad
Also, sorry if this as been answered before.

It is player preference. Crippling wave works best when you are getting mobbed on, so unless you can survive very easy it would be hard to use it to its full potential and not die. FoT is the best spirit generator and has a knockback on level 3 (not sure if lightning flash destroys the knockback). FoT is better single target dps then crippling wave so it might be more suited for HC, since you want to go carefully as not to die. WoHF is teh best DPS out of the group and backs knockback I would recomment the crit increasing attack speed it buffs your dps the most. You generate spirit slower then FoT and are lockdown during the second attack for a longer period of time making you immobile. SC i would go with WoHF, HC i would go with FoT, its more mobile and generates spirit for your defencive abilities faster, you might not kill as fast but it will be easier for you to survive.

MY MONKKKKK HAS BEEN RUINEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD lol 2attacvk speed. oh ma gawd.

whats the minimun life, dps, resistence to clean act1 inferno. im s frustrated , i had 20k life and 11k dps but very low resistance (im using 2 hands wapons) and couldnt kill elites... then i changed my weapons for less dps but with life on hit and my gear to get some more resistence. Now i have like 12k life, 7k dps and 350 resistence but im still dying hard... what i should focus on?
|
Dunno if this has been mentioned but Monk got some new attack animations. Deadly reach now uses his weapon (at least for diabos and spears). There might be others out there was well.
Edit: Looks like deadly reach and crippling wave got weapon animations. Some of them look pretty damn cool. That is it for the spirit generators, I haven't tried all the abilities, though.

Okay so what I have noticed is elite packs are a LOT EASIER. I only had 1.63 atk speed prior to the patch. Now I'm like 1.45. Yesterday Act 3 packs were pretty tough. But now they are very easy. But GHOM IS FRICKEN INSANEE. Has anyone here beaten him since patch?
|
Lol, the attack speed nerf dropped my dps from 61k to 51k. Not sure how much this will affect my farming, but it seems pretty significant.

im actually not minding the patch, dropped the shield, using conviction aura, and cleaning up

10k dps, 26k life, 405 resist all, 7k armor buffed. I can solo the butcher with 3 other people not doing shit, just takes me a while.
You can get by with around 200 resist all i would imagine. With 400 i never die.

My guess is the 10%dmg per second rune. i used to use it to powerlevel in normal n nm. think d2 auradin lol. massacre

Go to AH, buy like 2-3 blues with vit/resist all. This should be possible with under 100k spent. You should be at ~20k hp now. 12k hp isn't enough to survive burst without an absurd amount of armor/resists, regardless of how much LoH you have. At this point go clear act 1 inferno.
Also has anybody actually done the math and knows exactly how what aspd(with FoT) you need to be minimally positive from keeping mantra buff up? I'm thinking you still need aspd to get to that point, and then after that crit/crit dmg overtakes aspd as a priority.

This is my setup post-patch:
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/3oP1S.jpg)
I was still running MoE+Armor, but it was literally extremely hard for me to die to melee damage (obviously I still can die to arcane/desecrate/molten/fire chain) that I can probably make due with Conviction+Overawe and a shield when things get sketchy (like phasebeast packs).
I was a little saddened because mobs were so much easier, but at least I can now build dps monk.

Ok, I chose monk as my 2nd char but I'm kind of struggling past act 1 inferno and could really use some help. I would like to know (assuming my build is ok) what items I need to upgrade asap. aka what is holding me back. Thank you for all your help.

not sure what else is missing on your part. I was able to clear inferno pretty easily with stats and items worse than yours. What specifically is your problem in act 1?

I struggle in act 2, more specifically the few quests leading up to belial. Maybe I just suck at playing monk lol :p

use air or earth ally they both own and swap out transcendence for the -25% damage debuff

Loving the new patch mobs are more free farm then they were before. I was able to switch out half my defensive for offensive abilities to make up for the 5k damage I lost from IAS nerf. Using conviction mantra with overawe now, lashing tail in replace of earth elemental for knock back and just cause I wanted to use something new, gonna play around with exploding palm later tonight. I can officially idle in Siegebreaker's face without taking any damage, I mean it is literally not noticeable with LoH. It makes me kind of sad that they nerfed inferno this hard, but it is classic blizzard, appease the masses or you do not make money.
PS hating the fuck out of new drop rates, farmed for about 4 hours today through act3 a couple of times, did not find a piece of sell worthy gear for either gold AH or RMAH.

Basically it's a good enrage timer for a gear check boss(need 33.3k dps to meet enrage with 100% uptime), but when melee's spend upwards of 1/3 of the fight kiting/fighting clouds and jellies, you'll need closer to 50k consistent dps to meet it.. Also they need to fix ghom spawning poison clouds as soon as the fight starts, because that basically makes it significantly harder than it should be due to the silly imposed requirement of having to paint yourself into a corner and then lure him back around.
