Looks like I'm going to have to stay in act1 for a while and farm warden/butcher. While gear really helps a LOT, when I hit this wall I had to learn two other things as well, maybe this will help you too. In Act I I could face tank everything, elits/champions, all the normal mobs. That attitude does not work in Act II when you gear is not as insanely good (all Act 3/4 gear) as you might want. So, when you hit Act II, the following two bad habits you might have picked up will be punished harshly: - Bad movement. The start of the act hits hard, for example with the poison wasps. You should be able to walk around between 5/6 of them and still dodge all the little projectiles. If you cannot do this, that is part of the problem. Using leap is allowed. A second thing that hits you hard are the Lacuni huntresses, you have to move out of the target of their firebombs, finally, there are the berserkers or the Lacuni hunters that have a really strong but slow attack. You have to be able to dodge out of the way of these attacks as well. The weird thing is that you can have gear that allows you to take EVERYTHING that Act 1 has without problems (facetank the Butcher in his fire without problems), yet be punished by the white mobs in act 2. - Bad cooldown management. You cannot dodge all the time, you need to do damage, and tank a bit while you are doing that. In order to close and stand toe-to-toe with some of the melee mobs, you have some pretty strong cooldowns, but you need to use them the right way. For example, the Leap with 3 seconds of 400% armor, followed by Ignore Pain with the 7sec damage reduction into another leap with 3 seconds of extra armor gives you 13 seconds to do damage, then you need to get out. Not chaining these cooldowns properly gives you less time to do damage, and not GTFO after you are done with the second leap will get you 1shotted. A similar story is with healing combos, such as jumping into a pack, Revenge heal, and furious charge heal out. But be prepared to kite much more than in act I. Hope it helps.
This is good advice. Movement and properly timing your defensive abilities is really important. In act 3/4 you can barely be touched by an arcane sentry without dying, and everything generally hurts a lot more. It can be tricky for meele, but good movement is definitely key for surviving in the later stages of inferno,

Yeah, playstyle is definitely very important. It's just weird to have to play carefully even against normal mobs, when up to this point I only had to do it against nasty affixes. I think I'm going to enjoy it though, at least for a while. Thanks for the advice.

Guys are this stats enough for me to take on act2 Inf
42k Life 9k dps 9k armor ~600 all res (only arcane and cold are 550 and physical is 670) 19% block 360 LoH 2% melee reduction(lol)
All stats are buffed (warcry, enchantress, and passives)

I don't have these exact stats, but I think if you play smart, you should be able to kill some white mobs. Most champions will be hard and you probably won't make it through the act unless you skip a lot of things and/or have help for bossfights. And you will die a lot regardless.
Just my take though. I had similar stats a while back when doing act2, and the only way I could kill champions was doing gimmicky sprint/tornado builds b/cuz if I tried to melee them I got eaten alive.

As your gear becomes better, you'll have to worry less and less about white mobs. When you just enter act 2 (and act 3 for that matter), some of them realy hurt though :p

Should be doable with those stats, yea. I'd see if I could increase your dps and resists/armor slightly though. What weapon have you got?
I had the same stats, with slightly worse resists and no life on hit, but 6k more dps, and I cleared act 2 with 5 NVs.

I would recommend just saving up like 1-2 mill and buy a 900-1k dps one.

Seems to me since I already have Stormshield I could get more HP, some resist and a STR mode with the so-immportant attack speed for MUCH cheaper price while I only lose 8% block?
What am I missing?
anyone? really need to decide soon :S

Depends on your stats, build, playstyle etc. I would however probably go with a rare helm unless you find a helm of command or mempo with a gem. I don't think 8% block is that huge but it is after mitigation and stormshield blocks a good amount so it's probably better than I think it is.

Took me like 3hours last night to do the breached keep quest! hahaha
act3 is so hard, i dont even know what to do.
61k hp 8.8k armor 750 all res (some up to 800ish) 620 life on hit 12.5k dps with frenzy maniac
i have 8% ranged reduction, and i guess my next step is a GOOD string of ears..

I just got through Act 2 and you're very well geared, IMO.

Looks like we barbs will faceroll through Inferno once patch comes.

Should be easy to tank in groups, but will solo-play change at all ? It still seems that we need far better armors and stats to worry about than other classes :S
Also I don't fully understand the attack speed change... was about to get me some attack speed rings, should I still do it ?

???
patch notes? I need to find these at work.. hmm. '
edit:
reading them now..
so far so good until the NV change. Jesus blizzard nobody wants farming runs to take hours.. holy shit. They make bosses even LESS important or memorable than before. BOSS FIGHTS SHOULD BE MORE FUN AND CHALLENGING THAN RANDOM TRASH.
So with the no extra damage per player and overall act2/3/4 nerfs.. I wonder if my barb will ever die soon? :E

it really just depends on the actual numbers. Will attack speed as a mechanic change or will they just drop the attack speed on all existing items? 0.o

I can only suggest to my fellow Barbarian brethren to try and get a group with wiz/dh together. I just noticed its much easier when someone actually does damage in the group, lol. I can survive but my DPS is totally gimped.

While I appreciate the change to make mobs not deal more damage while in a party, I really don't like they are nerfing the overall difficulty of A2/3/A4. The game seems like a good challenge where it is.
The higher acts are doable, but just takes some additional time/positioning/skill rather than just holding down left-click and expecting to roll everything.

I can somewhat agree here, I am really curious how much they nerfed. I felt pretty good about 5 stack clearing maghda easily last night, and if I can all of a sudden beat diablo today, I'm gonna feel pretty silly farming all that time working to do act 3.
A slight damage nerf might had been needed but that was all. Also co-op having absolutely no damage scaling means co-op is probably going to be crazy easy when the acts have been nerfed as well.

It is so damn refreshing to see a post like this. I found that my "act II omfg so hard" attitude was easily fixed by playing better. I needed a little more gear, sure... but mostly I just needed to be a lot more precise with cool down management, build experimentation, and play skill.

The reduced (or non-increase) in damage in parties only benefits melee only. Any WD, Wiz, or DH will get 1-shot regardless of this upcoming patch. The only thing it affects is making melee more viable in groups without it feeling as if they aren't pulling their own weight and those range classes would have been better off as solo.
And just to elaborate, I think difficulty and HP/dmg is fine where it is now. Last report, something like 2% of the general population is in Inferno (most of them maybe only on A1). Inferno is supposed to be the hardest there is, and if you're dumbing it down (to what degree yet i don't know) then it kind of removes the "coolness" factor if being in the upper echelon of players. Yes, while it does sound elitist, I don't think anyone can deny the desire to stand out from the rest of the pack in online games.
