Hi!
Finally got to 60 and built my barb with the help of a friend + this thread.
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Pokebunny-1967/hero/26294619
The gear, including upgrading gems, cost me around 11m - but I got two rings for free, which look to be worth another couple million.
What upgrades should I look at to improve my character / efficiency overall? I have around 7m atm, but my DH is far more geared for farming, so I shouldn't have trouble getting more money if I should save up for Lacuni's or Tyrael's Might or something.
I'm not looking for MF, because my DH is already geared out in MF :p

I think you need some more crit chance. It looks like you have just under 40% (buffed) when really you need to be at about 50%. Also, what is your crit damage at?
You're life and armor are good, could maybe even drop a little armor if you had to.
edit - Probably should look for some new boots as well.

w/ buffs other than wotb cc is 49%, cd is around 390%.
cc: 5% base 24.5% items 10% weapons master 5% ruthless (5%?) battle rage 10% wotb = 59.5% with wotb
is that still not enough? i know i could get cc rings but getting cc without losing important stats on them would be hard.
|
Oh ok, either my math is terrible or the profile page is off somehow TT - those numbers are fine, only slightly below mine. I think buffed (not wotb) I'm at 51 or 52 and 420ish crit dam.
I don't have anything super amazing but I do have 15k more dps on my char sheet even though we have roughly equivalent stats, maybe you can see something I'm not. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Charger-1101/hero/23424149
I do have 1k more str and a higher dps off hand, that might be the difference right there really.
edit - maybe I need to look at my cc and cd numbers in game, something is off here....
edit 2 - ok, buffed im at 55.5% cc and 421% cd (no wotb)

I'm not looking for MF, because my DH is already geared out in MF :p your barb looks fine all in all. no glaring weakness, almost nothing that can be improved for less than 500k. 24% movement speed would be nice, but not mandatory. the thing that is missing the most from your current gear imho is attack speed. maybe from gloves or lacunis. in general, i dont like the idea of using 2 rings of the type of yours. one such ring is enough, on the other i'd try to get cc and average damage. the armory piece that needs replacement the most, however, are the boots.
your mainhand can be improved as well. a 1070-1100 dps weap with a socket, but no base cd would yield much more damage. and you could improve all your gems. replacing all your 42 str rubies with 46 str shouldnt cost too much and help a bit. your two emerals also offer the potential for 20% additional cd for a rather cheap price. you could also try to sacrifice some 20ish str on your shoulders and get 9-12% life instead.

I would just like to pipe in to say that people neglect attack speed (many people seem to basically ignore it) in favour critical hit damage... and I think that is HUGE mistake. Crit damage just gives you damage; attack speed gives you damage, LOH, and fury. I would never EVER forfeit attack speed for critical hit damage, because attack speed is so amazing for your fury generation.
|
Yeah I'm one of those but mostly cause I'm cheap lol. I got an ik helm so Andy's is out and a good pair of lacunis are expensive. I think that's my next purchase but I can really only afford about 35m or so for them.
|
Mm, maybe I'll look at rings and see if I can afford something with ias + cc, but I imagine adding anything on top of that could get a bit pricey. Boots as well - see, I iniially searched like 100str 100vit 40ar 12ms on boots thinking it would be a mil or two, but it turned out at 8m+... barb prices are weird as a DH player, haha. But I'll look around, thanks!
|
the cheapest way to get ias is from gloves. just get gloves with 80+ str, 60+ vit, 7+ attack speed and 8+ crit chance. no crit dam, no all res, no 150+ str. gloves like that can be found for 2M or something like that and will certainly boost both your dps and your fury and LoH, compared to cd + cc gloves.

EU/SC can't find anything to upgrade, everything is worth tens of millions apparently... and my gear isn't even that good. Can anyone suggest the cheapest upgrade? Farming a3 alkaizer route and dying 2-5 times each run which i would like to avoid.

Can anyone suggest the cheapest upgrade? Farming a3 alkaizer route and dying 2-5 times each run which i would like to avoid. when looking for upgrades, you should not only focus on items which are better than your current ones in every single aspect. for example, you could easily sacrifice some str on your bracers to get more vita or AR, which would help with your survivability.
in general, i think you have 2 major problems: too few life and all res, and a too slow offhand. getting a quicker offhand with similar or even slightly worse stats would improve your survivability and fury generation and also your damage by a lot! (even if your onscreen dps goes down!)
and like almost everyone asking for help in this thread, your gear is lacking attack speed and overemphasizing crit dam. as a first step, i would replace the ruby in your armor with an amethyst. 35k life is just way too low for someone with such low resistances.
edit: and use the enchantress. she is by far the best follower for ww/sprint barbs. she offers a huge armor buff and some attack speed. in addition, i really like her charm spell that can often times help with difficult fights.

I don't think i can replace that offhand, i'm basically nothing without it :p Looking at the ah now its all spears 1.20 AS that are close to it

Your character sheet DPS will go down, but your ACTUAL damage will rise significantly.

Been lurking this thread and had been a great source for of information, so first and foremost I must thank everyone who posted valuable ideas. Over the last couple of days I have spent my saved my hard eanrt 6m to buy upgrades to my Amulet, Boots and 2 rings. and this is what I have managed to get so far (Vile Ward is the only real good drop I ever got, and a 4m dex chest long ago) Anything I should be working on or you deem easy to improve? http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Usagi-2407/hero/7262165 I get frustrated every time I look into getting a new main hand weapon because there seems to be a jump from what I have that cost me around 1m to 10m if I want minor improvements. A Tyrael's is on the looks, but... expensive if I dont get any nice drops. Those red gems... well, I spent every single little bit of money, dont have enough to even craft better ones! xD Strategize away.

Is there anyone who does NOT play sprint-WW? Last 40 pages talks only about that. So sad.

What's the deal with echoing fury in ww build? Others say it should be MH, others OH, what about it? Also is it any good?

- I've tried throwing on a 2H weapon using a variety of builds, but it was nowhere near as ww/sprint.
- I've tried a throwing build, but it was nowhere near as effective as ww/sprint.
- I've tried a DW raw DPS build, but I didnt have the gear requirements for it, and it was nowhere near as effective as ww/sprint.
- I tried a tanking build.... then I fell asleep
There's a reason it's the dominant barb build, and it's because everything else pales in comparison. There's just no contest. I rampage through the game as an unstoppable invincible death machine, with permanent WOTB, barely stopping for trash and murdering elites in a few seconds. If there was another build I could play with that actually was comparable I would use it for the variety, but there just isn't!

The fear proc is going to be pretty detrimental for ww/sprint build. We don't want mobs running in fear out of our tornado kill-zones.

I guess I'm the only one that finds a self-made build more entertaining.
Edit: Echoing Fury's aps bonus AFAIK applies to both weapons, that's the only reason to use it. Fear is terrible though.
