What's the best upgrades for my CM/WW Wizard doing MP5 key/uber runs on a 100m budget!?
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Enickma-2780/hero/3372093
Don't know if I should get more DPS to kill stuff faster on MP5 or get more defense to better survive higher MP levels!?
My thought is either gear for MP10 keys/ubers to make sure I get the damned drops even though the kill time is high. Or just continue doing MP5 runs since I think the 50% drop chance is fine but then just boost my DPS to make the runs quicker.

your cc is good but id get 14% more ias to hit next breakpoint or work on pumping ar. so would need 8-9 in either belt or bracers. i prefer a witching and ur not wearing one, thats a big dps increase but getting ar and armour there is expensive but they have gone down in price where as ar + cc lacuni are more expensive. and get some 6-7% in ammy with same or more cc and a nice loh count. that will do for the breakpoint, but will probably cost u ar from belt so you should think i getting an ar tals too, they are not tha expensive anymore. if you want to keep em prices in check on the witchin and tals with ar dont aim for 70+ ... you can probably get the 2 pieces with 50-60 ar with ur budget, which will be more dps and more ar than what you have now.
or you can go endgame oriented and just spend the 100m in a good ar witching or tals.

i agree with all this and just wanted to add, you might even think abut losing the Inna's Pants, totally gives you a ton more survival if you switch into a blackthorns pants or just a straight up Rare Pants with sockets, AR, amror, and all the shit... which would free up some room for losing AR/armr on your belt if you upgrade to a witching hour.
You'd lose 9ias and 12 movespeed. You can make the 9ias somewhere else such an AR tal's for cheap like ximae says, and the movespeed really doesnt matter for cm/ww as much as for archon or something

2.51 vs. 2.73 APS.. 33 vs. 36 ticks.. Is it really that big of a difference to notice!?
I've just switched a belt and a bracer to a Witching Hour and a Lacuni Prowlers to get to 2.8 APS. But somehow I'm worried about hurting with my EHP too much if the added ticks doesn't justify it. I also went down from 54.5% to 49% Crit (with Scoundrel). Is that too big of a hit!?

your crit is fine, though i may not have bothered with lacunis without crit chance (they expensive though).
attack speed is everything. more ticks is more crits - more AP back, more frost novas, and more life on hit (if you run that).
if you have survival problems and you are using meteor drop glass cannon and use conflag

I just tried getting up to 3.07 APS and Jesus Christ are you burning through that AP insanely fast! :o
I just can't believe that this kind of resource starvation is effective but Goddamn did Elites die fast! :D
|
well u shouldnt be having ap problems with 3.01 aps and 3 apoc sources at all, yeah u burn it quickly but it should spike up quickly too.
btw i look at your lacuni and it makes me sad, i dont think that was the wisest choice u just traded cc for ias.....upgrading the ammy would have been a smarter choice even if you lost some int and vit.
|
the lacuni will be ok if he wants to farm paragon levels tho
|
What's so wrong about that Lacuni for Übers but that it's still okay for farming?
|
because you don't need as good of gear for farming. it's still not ideal even for farming but movespeed on anything is good
the movespeed doesnt really matter for ubers and you definitely want crit anywhere you can get it(though attack speed is more important). but its just better to try to get attack speed AND crit

hey all:
so i've been on a long break and am so far behind on gear I don't even know where to start. ive been reading through the thread, but i'm not sure what specific gear i should look at for upgrading. i have around 50m to start and am just looking to improve my character overall for general farming.

anyone have initial suggestions? any required breakpoints/upgrades i need to get address right off the bat?

higher dps weapon (black, non-elemental), and a triumvirate if you want to go archon build. should be able to buy nice ones for 50M. if you dont want to blow it all in one place, get a helm with socket next (i like tal rasha's, mempo is good but with crit its expensive), boots with movespeed (i like zunimassa's trail) then either a lacuni's bracer for movespeed or innas pants for movespeed. that should cover dps, socket (experience) and movespeed (24%). you'll want a hellfire ring for experience and a leorics signet for experience.

thanks for the reply, but quick question. is it worth going towards an archon build, rather than my current ww/crit build? i have more fun with WW so i'd prefer to stick with it, but if archon is THAT much better for the price then i suppose i'd consider switching over.

edit: cm/ww is superior for high mp/ubers. archon is superior for exp/item farming.

@thisisnotralph, one of the things you gotta think about on which build to take is whether u play in group or not and if you do what kind of mp lvl you farm in. as archon suxs for groupplay, for lower mps you could do with spectral blade build (archon geared with decent defense) but if you farm in group and it is higher mps (mp5 or above) the only real option is cm.
i peeked at ur toon and you have some major upgrading to do but the good news is the economy is so trashed right now that you can do miracles with 50 mill. a good cm will be sort of out of your reach for that budget but you could easily hit 200k dps or more with archon.
you could start gearing for archon to start making money, but laying some decent base to be able to transition slowly into cm as some of the bis slots are the same but the difference really lies in that for archon u wil be getting more cd and for cm ias, cc is a given for both.
edit 2: im adding you a couple guides:
sustained archon guide:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6572969342
If u want a cheap and effective way to boost dps for sustained archon, get yourself a skorn u can even get it with life steal . i bought a 1400dps with 550 int for 2 mill and 1330 300 int with 5.3 ls for 8 mill.
SNS CM guide:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/7200301791
ShockNadoShards you can only do when you have the armour/ar/loh requirements in check so if you want to gear for that and while you get ur defence in place you could always use cristal shell instead of shards and prismatic armour instead of shocking aspect, u will dealing half the damage but you will be able to survive well and freeze well as long as the aps/cc/apoc requirements are met.

the only thing ximae forgot to mention is archon players have bigger e-peens because our sheet dps is so much sexier than their's. ;-)

does anyone have an example of a gear set-up for sustained archon? the guide is good but does not go very in-depth into gear. all i got from is that i should have minimum 24 movement speed, and that's it. what % life steal am i looking at? do my resistances need to be high? how does crit chance play into it? crit dmg? etc

I can farm MP0-2 comfortably (I have a Tal Rasha's ammy that I switch to for more DPS if necessary), including Reflects Damage Elites. CD on my gloves/ring would probably be better than the IAS, but it makes it easier to spam Spectral Blade (and I don't want to swap even more gear when I switch to a CM build).
With an Archon build you want good vitality/life (mine is a little low, imo), all resistance, armor, CC and CD. Life Steal is pretty necessary: a 2.7+ weapon is best (and very expensive for high dps) but you can get by on a lower amount/MW:BM and a decent amount of LoH/Life Regen.
Just did a test and I was able to do sustained Archon runs on MP0 at 100k dps, 500 AR, 25k Life, LS from MW:BM, 700 Regen, and 4500 armor (all buffed values.)
