Not really. I'm talking about stupid stuff. Like the oozes on the walls that spit acid at you in act 2. Those normally don't kill you but since the ooze shoots multiple projectiles AND leaves a slime beneath your feet that does additional damage, they insta-kill you. Absolutely infuriating at times.
I do agree though that the trade-offs are what you want for running through inferno. However, I'm not sold if it's a good build for farming, i.e., killing champion/elite packs.

My gear is really bad (still some lvl 40 items, only about 11-12k dps) though and this was the only build that really worked for me against everything. After reading this thread I'll try to work in Venom Hydra somehow.
Same build, but i have Hydra (for bosses i make lightining, for groups venom) instead of Orb. Its good build especially in parties, but in soloing sometimes you need to swap something for mirror image against those elites with fast traits.

Sorry to ask again but didn't get a reply.
As a Wizard just starting out on Nightmare, what stats on my gear should I be buying/aiming for? Obviously Intelligence I need, but what is the most important after that?
Thanks.

Attack speed, intellect, vitality, life per second/on hit is what I'd go for, roughly in that order. As long as you have two defensive skills, don't really need much to survive nightmare, and attack speed is the best dps boost.

I mean, you know where these wall-things show up, so maybe you could use something like teleport or diamond armor to get past them without dying instantly...
I don't know. Regardless, I think it's boring because I know that I'll be playing this build as well when I hit inferno since literally nothing else seems truely viable... I'm on act 3 hell and I've tried really hard to go for a build with a lot of vit and damage where I don't have to kite constantly unless I want to, the way I imagine wizard SHOULD be played... but it just feels impossible, you get killed so ridiculously quickly while sacrificing a ton of damage.

Having played the no vit build to act 3 thus far, I have to agree - in certain situations you feel invincible (belial phase 2), but the vast majority of the time you are still a straight glass canon. I never engage more than one enemy without diamond armor, and if it's down I teleport and run until it's back up again. Very tedious for even white mobs but what can you do.
Certain combos are so difficult that you might as well skip them. Fast mobs + illusion/fire chains, vortex + plagued/frozen/molten/fire chains, and such can and will kill you randomly from 100 to 0 at their leisure. Any ground dot is instant death.
It's anything but boring, I promise. You literally get killed by 3 spiderlings spawning from one burst egg and scratching you at the same time.

It really all depends on the mob. The no vit build is insane for some mobs but on average not that fantastic. Many abilities just kill you, anything with a DoT effect in it basically. Maybe with good speed and attack speed you can kite most though. Fast mobs are not neccesarily problematic if they don't have a DoT effect. If you go for diamond skin with enduring skin and frost nova with reduced cooldown you can chain those two basically and survive most mobs that don't have poison, fire, arcane sentries etc. And those that do you can often handle with some kiting and good dps.

What does attack speed even do for Wizards? Reduce cooldowns?

How do you have 0 costs on your Frost Ray?

So what's better, Disentegrate or Ray of Frost?
They do the same thing from the looks of it, but Ray of Frost better damage and slow effect??

Arcane Orb with what rune? I like that spell too, but trying to build a Wizard ready to play on Nightmare....
As far as gear goes, I should just focus on +int and attack speed and regen if possible? I guess Gold Find % is good too so I can farm gold for AH items.
Here is my current skillset. Please advise if I can do better: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#UacSXQ!YcX!aYaZaZ

Don't be lazy and read the thread, there are plenty of answers already...
In a nutshell, in nightmare you can still go full nuke with no endurance, few CDs and cc mobs. After that you have to add cooldowns.

As for stats, I've been going pretty much "if a gear item has both int and vitality, it's a great item", focusing more on int and damage over vit. Personally I don't think many other stats are worth much (hp/regen is important if you want to do the cheesy 0 vit build, attack speed could be useful if you spam signature spells etc but I think most builds have you kiting way too much to get much benefit from it).

From what I've read, seems like the Force Armor build is the only way to progress after Hell. And I'm at a loss as to what Passives I should have other than Glass Cannon
