No it doesn't. Like most DoTs in the game it will only apply once, if you try to apply it again nothing happens. i.e. you don't even refresh/length/change the damage on the current dot and can't reapply until it runs out.

did u test this? because the fire dot on the hungering arrow rune stacks.

Man, I'm glad I've been gearing and playing under the assumption that SS would get slapped down hard. I'd be pissed if I was suddenly needing to completely regear to survive 5 seconds.
|
Yeah, same here. But I mean, it was completely broken so it was obviously going to get nerfed, it was only a question of when.
|
Yeah it was bound to happen, hopefully not many people lost their HC characters.
One thing that has been helping me a lot against some packs is to fight really far away from them. Like not even seeing them in my screen so mortar and vortex don't kill me.
|
Im at diablo inferno since the last day and a half. Regret not putting the time in to finish him.
I hope it is still possible. Should be since I should only need SS on him to dodge single attacks / skills. Did skip last part of act2 by joining a friend on act3. Im on finding the blood of the guy.

Yeah, that plus kiting. A3 Hell, starting work on the hearts, and frankly, a little bit of resists and +vit goes a long way to making a DH a lot less squishy. I think a lot of people have been in self fulfilling prophecy mode. "I get one-shotted anyways, why stack defensive stats" to justify SS abuse.
I tend to stutter step 2 frost arrow, 1 hungering, and I can go pretty much indefinitely with a little bit of hatred regen on gear. I'm tempted to swap for entangling+bounty hunter or chain gang and ele+tentacles. I figure that would give me some increased survivability as needed once I cap.
|
The problem is that there some champion packs/elites that are just impossible to kite. Namely those with invincible minions, shielding or fast and some monster types which are inherently fast or have some form of gap closer (like those jumping jackasses in A2). I think SS still has its place as a CC breaker and repositioning tool. They should fix the bug (?) that monsters sometimes follow you although you are invisible which currently negates the repositioning aspect of it...
I also think that they should rework the invulnerability of monsters (shielding + invincible minions) because not being able to cc them in any way is quite frustrating. maybe they should have CC reduction instead of immunity or some kind of cc breaker on cooldown instead.
|
So far, I've only found maybe a half dozen packs that were literally impossible to kill without SS. Most of those I've been able to drag to some dark, forsaken corner of the map and ignore.

I highly recommend the use of vault with the passive ability of tactical advantage. Because of the low cost of vault and the speed increase of tactical advantage, you basically become a flying menace. I can't wait to try it out in PVP, If you become skilled at using this ability, you'll become untouchable. With the use of traps and Frost/Fear arrows. I think a well played Demon Hunter is going to be a bad ass come PvP time. Give it a shot.

I personally prefer tumble. A lot of times if I need vault, I need the second vault cheap more than I need a speed buff. Speed doesn't mean much if you're surrounded, diving past baddies that walled you, or otherwise need to get past a large section of unhealthy space quickly.
Vault is an anti-space control ability. It lets you counter NPC space control. Move speed doesn't help that much with that, but vaulting again cheap does.

well, i did gear my dh around smokescreen...its still doable, though way harder. its ok though, was obviously overpowered.
lingering fog is a must now, which leaves me without the extra hatred from breathe deep. this means less multishots to refill discipline. i switched from hungering arrow to entangling shot with 6 hatred rune to compensate, but is way less efficient, especially since i really miss the dps from ha.

agreed, I too love the reduced disc vault

I just killed him after wiping for half an hour. You have to tumble the auto attacks instead of vanishing them to save energy. Also make sure preparation is ready before each clone in p2.
But my general thoughts are i wont farm for another month just to be able to farm solo again. Im uninstalling the game , it reminds me too much ( or more ) of WoW than diablo 2. The fun aspect in d2 was solo farming to improve your gear so you could optimize your character , now you are forced into a certain playstyle and parties until you gear up with 800 resists. Just dull. Back to LoL soloq

If I post some stats/screens of my 33ish (Nightmare) DH can someone do a bit of a check on gear etc and make some suggestions?
I see all these DPS figures which seem so crazy high, either I'm not reading something right or my character is goddamn terrible!

Or a graph of gear scaling looks like a staircase. Don't forget that option. It's actually most likely the correct one.

Luckily it got nerfed to shit

Smokescreen nerf was warranted, but I wish they reduced the discipline cost or made it castable during attack lag. There are other options too, like let it protect you from melee attacks (the monsters can't see you) but AoE still hurts. I never understood why it doesn't work like that.
Resists are secretly the best stat in the game. Everyone just wants to be a glass cannon, that's not the way you're supposed to solo. Vit is okay, but with the cheap prices in the AH for resist gear, I think stacking resists appropriate to what you have trouble with is the most efficient way to solo.
