Just started doing Act 3 today. The quiver, 14% attack speed, and slightly lower chance to crit, lower dex, makes it a prime candidate. Edit: as Azzur mentions, it will be a lot tougher to find those cheap deals the higher you go, especially for the quiver cause your play style seems to use a lot of disc, so high dex, with crit, and 15% attack speed is okay, but when you put disc into the equation, the cost will go up by a lot. he needs to use trail of cinder. and at that level you need to start considering sacrificing a bit of one stat to gain a lot of another. crit chance for example, can be ignored if you use the ss+toc trick. just do this until they nerf that into the ground and then use the money you made in the meantime for upgrades.
Yeah, since working through Act 3 I've switched over to Trail of Cinder since there is less opportunity to make use of Tumble due to the denseness of the packs. Tumble is more for Act 1/2 farming since theres a lot of dead space to cover often (and its much faster in those Acts).

I used to use evasive fire before this patch. The backflip turned into a liability when I started using trail of cinders. I don't have the old 4-pc Natalya's so discipline is at a premium. Accidental backflips screw up my dps.

^^ yeah I've been using trail of cinders...initially just to test, but it's so good that I've continued to use it. It's tough when you have the accidental backflip, and even more when going from tumble, where you can basically keep jumping all over the place.
I dont understand how it works though...1500% weapon damage would mean 15 times the amount your weapon dps/roll right? But it seems like a lot more, and I remember reading that cinders currently takes the dps mentioned in your stat page.lol.

So I came across a large pile of gold (a sick run yesterday netting me about 50m gold worth of items) and two of them sold overnight leaving me at 38mil, which is about 3-4x as much as I've ever had. Should I look for things in the 5-10m range all around, or should I look to splurge on one or two pieces so I don't have to keep upgrading everything? What's the best way to progress, and what pieces should I look at first? I could build glass cannon for more damage and MF but I really hate dying in one hit to white mobs.

do you really get one shotted from white mobs? with 100ish allres and 1k vit? I dont believe it, I am pretty sure the only thing that is going to one shot you is the elite phasebeasts. anyway if I were you I would focus on getting more crit dmg since you are running with sharpshooter (both rings and weapon)

Why glass cannon is bad:
It was popular when game was released because 1. it's cheap and 2. inferno monsters used to hit a lot harder, so you needed to reach a higher threshold of defensive stats before it let you survive one hit. Inferno has been nerfed 3 times since then... you don't need nearly as much eHP to live through a hit or two in act 3.
And, rares can have 6 affixes. In slots like shoulders, the only stat that increases DPS is dex. A glass cannon character can only use 2 out of 6 affixes to increase his character's power (2 because dex + dex dual stat), which is very inefficient, while a balanced DH can use all 6. Glass cannon will also be useless in PvP when you consider that geared barbs can reach 90%+ damage mitigation pretty easily... and any instant-damage spell will gib you as soon as smokescreen ends.
Also, when you start one-two shotting everything, your farming speed will be much more limited by traveling time, not by the speed which you kill. Being able to survive when you make a mistake really begins to pay for itself at that point.
With 40m budget, I'd look for deals in the 5-10m range. High-end gear is still really expensive, but with the inferno nerfs + paragon, they will probably drop in price just like what 1.0.3 did to average level gear (made them nearly worthless due to increased drop chances).

Does anyone know of a build that uses two 1-handed crossbows? Or should I say, designed to be used with two 1-handed crossbows?
Also, going through Act 3, at first I had a 1176dps weapon, then bought a 1247 dps weapon. My paper dps went up about 10% +/- 2% (from 56k to 62k) but it feels like I cut through stuff much much much more quickly.

I have been using 2 1-handed xbows for ages. Hungering arrow + spray of teeth with 55% crit is great AE for normal mobs (and really good hatred generation). Cluster arrow + bombs is really strong too.
Rain of arrows (think that is what its called) + stampede = champions that cant do anything and free damage. Can also use it on packs of trash if you want. Shadow power + gloom Companion + bat (the hatred regen one) and of course prep
Grenadier, archery, and steady aim

oh lol the cancer. why did i look at the posts at that forum(bnet). so trail of cinders is now the "only fun thing about demon hunters"?...i guess you've got the wrong class

Oh well, it was expected anyways

Thank god ToC is being nerfed lol.

You know, it was fun while it lasted. I dont think there has ever been a skill that makes me lol as hard in all the diablo franchise.

The problem is that there isn't much besides ToC that allows DH to farm at least not much less efficiently than barbs and wizards do. With it gone farming with DH will be pathetic again.

Even with Trail of Cinders in its current form you cant compare to a barbarian whirlwinding around the entire room. No need to nerf it. Instead buff it. And also buff everything else, and all of the other 4 classes as well.
|
Blizzard: We barely test our shit, and if you find some of it fun you're wrong, you don't know what fun is.
The number that they intended is so low, everyone will go back to 1/2 cost second cast vault. Throwing yourself into enemies is dangerous, fun and quite rewarding. It needed to be nerfed but they're going too far.
|
They need to buff other hatred generators to be on the same level as DA. Doesn't make sense for those that requires aim to be worse than without.
