Looks like GSL is hitting the cables in Korea. They will start broadcasting GSL on AniBox starting February 22nd, and they are set to broadcast many other Starcraft 2 leagues in addition to the GSL, although they are only covering the Code S in March.
Personally, I have no idea they even had such channel, but this is looking a lot like the beginning of SC1 scene with Tooniverse and all (which was also a cartoon/animation channel). Hopefully we will see this turn in to something big like the BW leagues.

Wow this a good step forward
|
I heard about this from some guys on th Korean server. It's true.
|
It's a step forward at least. I am really interested in how many watch the GSL games. Is there some data for that?
Also, since you seem to know a bit about this, could you put in some more information? What's AniBox? How many people will be able to watch it? How many are likely to watch it?

This is great, the best way for SC2 and the GSL to gain wider acceptance is to get it on TV it is much easier for people to watch and dose not require any special software. Hope to see the Team League get on there next

awesome, SC2 is exploding in Asia finally aswell now SC2 is on television and also will be sold in China :D

good news, let's see how it turns out
oher sc2 leagues ? i'm waiting for the day koreans start watching western starcraft tournaments like mlg or iem from their couches, that will be a happy day for esports and sc lovers worldwide

Good good, the plan is working.. mwahahahaha

Interesting. I heard that parts of GSL were already being broadcast on an obscure Korean channel at an obscure time, though hopefully this new broadcast will be a bit more convenient and well-known.
Hopefully, MBC Game and OGN might consider picking up SC2 once all the KeSPA vs Blizzard legal drama is done. If not, hopefully another high profile channel will.

One small step for AniBox, one huge leap for starcraft 2.
|
this is huge news.. i wonder if this will spark the team sponsored leagues?
