With pros playing on them they would be able to get nice and balanced map pool in no time now that they are no longer restricted to ladder maps

I think it's to appeal to the casual gamer so they can have quick 5-10 minute matches and go about their day. Soooo.. I wonder if Blizz could cut these competitively bad maps out of the main ladder pool and instead have a 'quick-game' option that matches you up against someone with your ladder ranking, in a non-ladder match, on a selection of the smaller maps? This might appease both sides to some extent. I guess it would be tricky for people just starting out, but hey, gotta break eggs to make soufflee. or something. Edit: Actually perhaps all that's needed is the ability to use the match-making system within a custom game. Then all it takes is the map to actually be popular for it to work... Simple solution is to have a varied map pool which changes per division, so diamonds can have a larger map selection with more varied/bigger maps, and a smaller pool in lower divisions which gets rotated somewhat frequently to keep the absolute number of maps smaller and easier to learn, without denying them the ability to play on the higher division maps.

These maps look awsome, this is great news. Really hate some of those damn ladder maps...
Seems like a good idea, to not just replace ALL ladder maps - but just the worst ones.

And the units move way faster too. Speed roaches and speed lings even off creep... no such thing as "out of position" for them. -_-

This is amazingly awesome news, but they still need to do something about close position LT and Metalopolis. If they start doing custom maps, I don't see why they can't just do a custom version of these 2 maps without the close spawn as an option.

Are these maps uploaded anywhere yet for NA server or just a download so we can try them out?

I wonder what the rotation in the GSL will be like. New maps every season is almost certainly to quickly of a rotation for people to learn the maps well. Should be interesting to see.

No, terrible idea. Just because some of us are bronze doesn't mean we should get less maps and less varied maps. We already suck at the game, why handicap us further should we ever get promoted by having maps we are unfamiliar with only to get us relegated again. Plus we aren't all windows lickers looking to have our hands held, we paid the same as you, and we want to play the same game too. If we suck, we suck, that's our problem, let us worry about that, you worry about your own stuff. I realise you said rotate, that buts not useful either. The map pool should be the same across the board, in order to keep it fair and balanced for everyone.

Alright they have earned my money for Season 4

Its easy for zerg to take their 2nd expo without trouble but hard as hell for Terran/toss without the risk of dying to pressure.

Wow sick news!!! Awesome move by GomTV, I am glad that they are listening to the community, we needed some changes!!!

This blizzard anti macro map stance is completely imaginary; they merely wanted to make ladder map pool newbie friendly, not to enforce their map pools in tournaments. I doubt they'll say anything at all. They've handed Gom the keys, and it's becoming more and more likely that the only reason Gom has the keys and not Kespa is that if blizzard asks Gom to jump, Gom will ask how high. (whereas KeSPa's response is more "you first.")

Not nearly as bad as Steppes and Delta.

Most of them seem to have a very awkward 3rd. Maybe it wont be bad if the maps aré big enough.

crossfire is perhaps the worst starcraft map i have ever played.

well, a great news indeed! I hope to see them in action very soon :D

What's important is that they are using non-blizzard maps, this opens the door for so many great developers (this is iCCup's chance!) to have their maps see tournament play. AWESOME! :D
I'm a happy nerd now.

Do it! Do it!
I really wish that GomTV will consider some foreign maps (other than blizzard's), Iccup has great maps.
