That'd be awesome. Man some of those cakes are soooo good. I was thinking of making one, but I don't have the culinary skill.

STARCRAFT > WARCRAFT Final Product: + Show Spoiler + ![]() Look at that Hydralisk triumphantly stand over its prey, the poor Crypt Fiend. So satisfying. The making... So, we started out with a cake base, iced to look like part creep and part blight. + Show Spoiler + ![]() Notice how there's more creep than blight XD Then, we made the Crpyt Fiends abdomen out of cake... + Show Spoiler + ![]() Afterwards we covered the cake in fondant, and proceded to do the same for the Hydralisk. We took some fondant and used the cake as filling. + Show Spoiler + ![]() Hydralisk mold in place! Then came the various details. + Show Spoiler + ![]() Hydralisk arms made from fondant wrapped around gummi worms and a straw for support :D ![]() A head for our Hydra buddy. ![]() A shot after the head was attached along with the other parts of the Hydralisk. ![]() The entire cake before we painted it. Then came the painting. + Show Spoiler + ![]() We made the paint from food coloring, milk, and frosting, so it is edible. ![]() ![]() Just some shots of the painting process. We were sure we'd at least take top 3 with our Vulture cake, until some other cakes started rolling in. We began work on a second one that was a baneling. Much like Pape, we thought of using Jello, but we couldn't find a way to make all the detailed and crazy little blobs that would stay. We found a recipe to use Jello mix to make solid gummy, which ended up working VERY well, but the base of the baneling was frosting/fondant (gummy apparently like melts icing) which ended up being a horrible failure for any sort of three dimensional model. We ended up scrapping it and brainstorming something else. At that point, Vince came out with his cake and he mentioned that he used marzipan. My wife was very intrigued by this, and we bought some so she could test it out. She's an art major, and is used to modeling clay, so we were pleasantly surprised when it held shapes very well. She's done some amazing things in clay, so I went looking for the most detailed SC/SC2 picture I could find. We didn't want to make it solid marzipan, so we have the main centerpiece as the marzipan model, but we still added a ton of detail with the actual cake itself so it didn't feel cheap. So, I present my lovely wife's second (and last) entry into the competition, the Terran Marine Cake: http://notvedic.googlepages.com/cake2 - You want a piece of me, boy? Don't ask how much we spent on this - we ended up having to get way more than is even in the prep picture. =P

It's fondant with food coloring. We used some spray-on food coloring that we found at Hobby Lobby to try to get a gloss, but it didn't work so well. It did, however, make for a good base for painting food coloring on for shading.

Seriously, I didn't even know cakes like Vincze01's were possible. Definitely my favourite so far. As far as taste goes though, I think the barracks one has to be the tastiest looking for looking as creative as it does. The baneling ones are all pretty intense. I like the one with the jelly filled ass (lol)
