About the rule changes, the contest is being held under TL law, not US law. So, we can change it if we wish. Seriously.
But it wouldn't be fair to change it now. The only reason this came up was that we were overwhelmed by the number and quality of the cakes produced. People have seriously gone above and beyond. It seems cruel for someone to spend 3 days making a cake and then not get a key. Of course, they have lots of cake to console themselves...

What if TL let people designate their second key to [next best cake that doesn't win one]. I think its probably the best method. I would gladly do that and have more TL bakers get keys. As far as being worried that more people wouldn't do this, I believe this community is a great one, and is why I joined recently in mid-late May, and that I'm sure the majority of the rest of you agree with me and would do what you can to help out the community.
So what do you all think about an option to let contestants designate their second key to other bakers?

The person who wins can give the second key to anyone they want, so that would be up to them.

Imo, gaming sites should get more keys if they have more members. Of course small starcraft sites should get a minimum number of keys, so no site gets like just one. Otherwise you have to get beta keys from small sites since the competition is so fierce here.

I think Chill and Kenni said it best in the recent podcast... The fact that TL gets the same number of keys and some random lame 5 hits-a-day fansite...Its rediculous to say the least.
But in Blizzards defence... How would they decide how much each site would get? There would always be arguments over the size of a community, and the number of hits it gets, as well as accuzations of favoritism among Blizz for specific sites. While TL does probably deserve a lot more than it gets... How much more is fair?

Aside from all the negativity about TL deserving more keys, these cakes are unreal. Very nice work everyone. These have blown me away.

Ok so I don't feel this is the best I could have done.But I feel it looks ok.I let time slip and honestly I can't spend anymore time on cakes for a few months.hahah
I love everyones cakes.The real top ones have been pointed out.
So It took forever to find fondant I didn't want to fiddle around with making it.I wanted something based off this picture with a reaver hitting the mineral line.
Heres how it turned out.I can assure you thats fondant and not playdough(playdough on the table) my son was making his own "cakes" with me.

Ok i haven't checked this page in a few days but all of a sudden there's so many amazing cakes some are ridiculously good!!! I believe this will be a hard contest to judge for whoever has to choose.

Yes, the good for the contestants, that they can eat the product of their hard work. 
Vincze's cake of course deserves some praise. But others are also really nice.

you guys should get some extra keys some people that might not win put a LOT of effort into thiers does anyone agree with me?
i get that it is wrong to change the rules but if everyone benifits from it its really ok.

ya, the more I look at these cakes, i think the contest should be called:
"bake a cake/pastry, put icing on it, then make a sick model of something SC out of marzipan/fondent" contest!
at least thats what some of them are... For some of these cakes its become a marzipan/fondent molding competition... Not complaining at all, it's just not what I expected. Still sick cakes tho.
